Lush Halloween Haul 2018

Double Double, Oils and Bubbles

The Lush Halloween collection is one of my most anticipated launches every year and this year’s selection didn’t disappoint. There have been some beloved returns and a few spooky new favourites.

Autumn to me is all about pampering, hot baths and cosy nights. Enter Lush. Halloween is one of my favourite holidays and every year, I like to treat myself to a few products to celebrate the spooky season.

Check out what I picked up in my 2017 Lush Halloween haul  here.

Returning Favourites

I was pleased to see Bewitched bubble bar and Lord of Misrule bath bomb return this year but as I treated myself to those last year, I wanted to try new things for this haul.

I kicked myself for not picking up Monsters’ Ball last year, so when I saw this was returning, I knew I had to try it. I’m more of a shower person, which is why I limited myself to only one bath bomb from the range but I still found it hard to not grab them all.

Sparkly Pumpkin bubble bar and Ectoplasm jelly bomb both made a come back this year and although I have yet to try either, they scream Halloween and would make for a perfect bath treat. If I had known how divine the Ectoplasm scent was, before trying the shower scream, I would have almost definitely picked up the jelly bomb too.

Lush Halloween Haul 2018 Monsters' Ball

Lush Halloween Haul 2018 Bath Art Monsters' Ball

Monsters’ Ball bath bomb | £4.95

This super cute, pink, one-eyed monster, may just have become one of my all-time favourites.

Monsters’ Ball smells truly divine. Neroli oil, Himalayan salt and olibanum oil, create as sweet lime and frankincense scent. Very similar to Calacas, if you are familiar with it and perfect if you aren’t a fan of sweet, candy scents or looking for something a little indulgent.

My bath water turned initially pink, to blue, then finally to purple as the two colours combine. Leaving dreamy swirls of pastel shades, as this little monster fizzed away. There was a subtle silver shimmer, to the water but it didn’t linger on the skin.

I think this bath bomb has mass appeal and instantly became one of my favourites, for both scent and the beautiful bath art it created.

Ectoplasm Shower Scream | £10.95

Ectoplasm shower scream, is a new release for this year’s Lush Halloween collection. If the shower scream is not calling your name, Lush has also released Ectoplasm as a; naked shower cream, washcard, jelly bomb and solid perfume.  The jelly bomb was the product that started it all last year and I’m so glad to see how much the range has grown, as the shower scream has completely sold me on the scent.

The scent reminds me of freshly squeezed juice. I love how the sweetness of tangerine, cuts through the grapefruit. So fresh and fruity, I’m totally addicted.

Last year, although I loved Lord of Misrule shower cream, I found the consistency too thick to easily squeeze out the bottle and it had almost no lather. Ectoplasm is quite the opposite, easy to squeeze but still slightly thick. I find it lathers, a little less than your average shower gel but feels really nourishing on the skin.

The neon yellow colour is so fun and don’t worry it won’t stain your bathroom. This is a big winner for me and a scent I really hope they bring back next year.

Lush Halloween Haul 2018 Magic Crystals

Magic crystals Shower Scrub | £10.95

Magic crystals isn’t actually a part of the Halloween collection and is instead a permanent product, that was released about a month before hand. With a name like Magic Crystals, how could I not included it in my Lush Halloween haul?

The consistency is thinner than I expected and so can splash about a bit, when you rub this into your skin. Making quite a mess of my shower in the process, but as long as I rinse the tiles after, I haven’t noticed any staining.

Spearmint, epsom salt and fresh sage, give this scrub a sweet minty scent and a tingling sensation. This doesn’t give the same chill factor as Christingle (which personally I find to intense) but it does give you that cooling kick.

I would be careful if you have very sensitive or eczema prone skin, as it could be irritating. I avoid any eczema patches, as I can see it stinging on broken skin. Otherwise, I don’t find it to harsh for my skin but I limit myself to only reaching for this once a week.

The vivid purple is gorgeous and I do really enjoy the spearmint scent. Refreshing and fun to use. I can see this being a great product to reach for in the warmer months, when the cooling effects will be a real treat.

Lush Halloween Haul 2018

Ghost in the Dark Soap | £5.95

Would it even be Halloween without a friendly ghost? The Ghost in the Dark soap is extra special as it actually glows in the dark!  I rushed this little ghost home, to see if it worked and after sitting in the sun for a bit I can confirm he glows. The 90’s kid in me was very pleased.

I only really become a fan of Lush soaps later last year. When I brought myself a block of Honey I Washed the Kids and realised what I had been missing out on all these years. I was always a little afraid of soaps, as I have very dry, eczema prone skin but Lush changed the game for me. I find their soaps to be really gentle and not at all stripping or drying.

Lemongrass and Bergamot oil give Ghost in the Dark its Avobath scent. I love how uplifting and fresh this combination is. I feel like it’s quite a safe scent, that would be enjoyable to anyone and a fantastic addition to your bathroom skin.

Final thoughts

I have being using these products for a few weeks now (expect for Monsters’ Ball which was a onetime treat!) and as I always do with my Lush hauls… I have found some new favourites. Dare I say, I would rather treat myself to a Lush Halloween product over some chocolate? How times have changed. I think Lush has brought out a really well curated and exciting Halloween collection. It’s been such a treat for me, to spoil myself with a few of their products. I look forward to seeing what they release next. I really hope Ectoplasm and Monsters’ Ball return. If anything grabs your fancy, definitely pick it up ASAP, as once they sell out they don’t restock.

I absolutely love it when you review LUSH and that Ectoplasm shower gel – gosh I need one asap! I am a huge fan of their shower gels; my skin is so dry – this is literally the only formula that agrees with it. And love fresh scents, so will definitely go and give it a whiff as soon as I am done typing. Thanks for the review Sam xx
