Discovering Antipodes

Innovative Clean Beauty

Antipodes have been on my radar for a while so I was so excited to be given the opportunity to give them a try. I have two skincare products and two lipsticks from the range to share with you. Organic, sustainable and vegan/vegetarian society approved. There is a lot to love with this clean beauty brand.

*These products have been sent to me for testing and review purposes. All opinions are my own. **Some of the links below are affiliate links, meaning, at no additional cost to you, I will earn commission if you click through and make a purchase.

Discovering Antipodes

All about Antipodes

It all started in New Zealand.

Founder Elizabeth sort to create a brand on the cutting edge of skincare and makeup. Using the highest quality, natural and raw ingredients from her stomping ground of New Zealand to produce the best organic, sustainable and premium formulas.

I’m all for supporting women in business, and even more supportive of her ambitions to create a sustainable and natural line that really works. The aspiration for Antipodes is to be the ‘cleanest beauty brand on the planet’ a noble goal. Everything I have read about Antipodes make me feel it’s an achievable one too, but I was really sold when I started testing their products. There is just something really special here.

They are also the only beauty brand to be in partnership with WWF!

Clean Beauty

I have been sharing clean beauty more and more recently, and I am delighted to add another brand to the list!

Clean Beauty is a bit of a white wash term in the industry but it boils down to; a brand that is actively against using ‘unnatural’ and potentially harmful ingredients in their products. At their core they are non-toxic, often have minimal ingredient lists. Primarily vegan or vegetarian and cruelty free as well. Sustainable and environmentally friendly are also important factors from everything to packaging, distribution and of course ingredients.

Antipodes Baptise and Kiwi Seed Gold

Baptise H20 Ultra-Hydrating Water Gel | £29.95

Vegetarian

The clouds parted, the sun shone brightly and Baptise was born. The Baptise H20 Ultra-Hydrating Water Gel is an absolute dream. It was love at first application. One of my favourite ingredients; natural hyaluronic acid and world famous Manuka honey, makes my dry skin feel drenched in moisture and much needed hydration. You know that feeling where you just want to keep applying something because it feels so wonderful? That’s Baptise!

Weightless

The light gel texture feels rich, hydrating but weightless too. It quickly absorbs with no sticky residue. I love gel textures in the warmer months. With all the added hydrating ingredients, this has been doing wonders for my dry skin without making it feel unintentionally greasy. I tend to use this just in the morning, as I do love to use oils or night creams at night but you could of course use this twice daily too. My skin stays comfortable and hydrated all day, thanks to two amazing key ingredients:

Manuka Honey

You can imagine the wonderful scent this powerhouse ingredient provides the Baptise Water Gel. Manuka honey is not only super nourishing but works as a natural anti-inflammatory too. It’s an incredible natural ingredient for acne and blemish prone skin, as well as doing wonders for my dry sensitive skin.

Hyaluronic Acid

The second hydration must-have that makes Baptise so special, is of course hyaluronic acid. It’s an ingredient that we see time and time again and for good reason. The plant based hyaluronic acid within Baptise draws moisture to the skin. Alleviating dry tight skin and speeding healing. These ingredients make it wonderful for so many skin types and concerns. It helps protect your skin from hydration loss throughout the day, and over time stops that dry tight feeling from re-appearing.

Antipodes Kiwi Seed Gold Luminous Eye Cream

Kiwi Seed Gold Lumionous Eye Cream | £45.95

Vegan

Do you want to feel like royalty? Look no further then the award winning Antipodes Kiwi Seed Gold Luminous Eye Cream. A rich, creamy texture containing 23k dissolvable recycled gold and grapeseed oil (rich in vitamin C). Hailed all the way from award-winning New Zealand grapes, this is an eye cream for the luxury lovers.

Solid Gold Baby

Real 23k gold flakes add a warm glow and help brighten dark and dull under eyes. Don’t worry, you would end up looking like Goldmember. The flakes are visible but once patted into the skin they blend, and add instant luminosity without looking glittery.

The gold flakes also work as a natural anti-inflammatory. Which is great for puffy eyes. As we are in full swing of hay fever season, I love to apply this in the morning to help de-puff my aggravated eyes.

Rich

The Kiwi Seed Gold has a really rich creamy texture. I find it takes a few seconds to fully absorb but does a lovely job of making my under eyes feel hydrated and nourished. This does has a high price point. However the generous 30ml size, coupled with the fact that ‘a little goes a long way’, means this pot will certainly last. There is also the original Kiwi Seed Eye Cream in the range which I have yet to try.

I really enjoy this eye cream, it feels wonderful on my under eyes and is packed with skin brightening benefits. All of which I want to target my under eye dilemmas. I would recommend this more for dry and dehydrated skin types or those looking to fight signs of ageing. It’s also been wonderful for my sensitive skin, often vitamin C can be aggravating for me. To find a product that is super gentle, and simultaneously hydrating and illuminating… Makes this a real winner.

Antipodes Queenstown Hot Chocolate and Forest Berry Red Lipstick

I’m So Healthy You Could Almost Eat Me! Moisture-Boost Natural Lipsticks | £19.99

There are twelve shades within the Healthy lipstick line of which I have two to share. The name does give away that these are made with technically edible ingredients. Although, I wouldn’t recommend taking a bite out of a lipstick if you get peckish. It’s reassuring to know that the food grade ingredients if digested aren’t doing you any harm. The Healthy Lipsticks are packed with natural oils such as avocado, calendula, evening primrose, argan and jojoba to name a few. These give them a super comfortable glide-on formula. That doesn’t drag upon application, or dry out your lips.

Glide On

The rounded bullet shape comes to a slight point, which I use to precisely line my lips. I then use one of the flat sides to fill in the rest of my lips. I really like the shape of the bullet, its easy to use and helpful to create a neat lip shape.

Formula wise, both lipsticks are really comfortable on the lips. It’s not so emollient that it melts, or slides off but creamy enough that I can use one swipe for full pigmentation and thick and even colour. As it’s not a matte formula, they do transfer. I prefer something that doesn’t look dry on my lips, so reapplying if eating or drinking is a small price to pay.

Antipodes Queenstown Hot Chocolate and Forest Berry Red Lipstick swatches

Queenstown Hot Chocolate

Queenstown Hot Chocolate is a warm brown that gives me 90’s grunge vibes. As I have quite rosy lips, this does have more of a rose undertone on me then in the swatch. I love this shade, it fits into the ‘my lips but better’ category, albeit slightly deeper then I usually go for. A good choice for an every day lip option when I wan’t to feel more made up.

Forest Berry Red

Forest Berry Red is a cherry cool-toned vibrant red. I wasn’t expecting this to be so electric and vibrant upon application. It’s definitely a femme fatel shade that will turn heads. As this is such a bold red, I find it does stain more then Queenstown which means I don’t have to reapply as often. To keep the colour topped up, I think reapplying is a must after eating and drinking.

Discovering Antipodes

Nature knows best

I am so impressed with everything I have tried from Antipodes. Not only do I love everything that has gone into these products but the results really speak for the quality too. Although I love them all, Baptise really stands out to me as the absolute must try! I can promise you, you will fall head over heels for this moisturiser. I really hope to try more from this incredible clean beauty brand in the future!
