Practical, convenient and rose gold? Friction Free Shaving ticks all the boxes. When FFS asked if I would like to try their razor subscription, I was delighted to give their razor and shaving products a try.

I have seen shaving subscriptions around, mainly in the USA, but I had no idea there was a UK based service for women. Enter Friction Free Shaving.

Let’s face it, shaving isn’t really an exciting topic. It’s part of my routine and I think like a lot of people, its generally loathed. For a while now I have been using men’s razors, as they are cheaper and generally better made. I really wanted to try Friction Free Shaving, to see how it compared and if it could make shaving more enjoyable for me.

The Load down

For £9 a month you get 4 replacement blades and either a rose gold or silver razor. It’s a little more then I usually spend on shaving per month currently but I do still feel it’s good value for money. You then have the option to add on any of their shaving products (£6 each) and I believe if you are a subscriber they do throw in some free gifts along the way too. Currently you can buy a similar gift set to the one photographed here for £25 (RRP £35) which contains all these items and a few extras.

A new blade every week

I must admit before trying FFS, I didn’t replace my blades quite that regularly, but I can see the appeal. Sharp blades are less likely to irritate the skin and cause ingrown hairs. If they are coming to your door every month in your razor subscription, you don’t have to worry about remembering to buy replacements.

Friction Free Shaving has changed my outlook on how often I replace my blades, as I am seeing the benefits from swapping my blades over once a week. My skin is certainly thankful and it’s more hygienic. I’m converted.

Meet Rose

Its no secret I love rose gold, so I knew Rose was the one for me. I never knew I needed a Rose Gold Personalised Razor until I had one. I love that it can be personalised. Not only is it a great idea, if you share a bathroom with a few people but it’s just a really lovely touch that can make it all the more enjoyable. The handle is really nice and weighted, you can feel the quality and it’s a really nice step-up from the usual disposable razors that are readily available. Friction Free Pre-Shave Scrub

I adore a body scrub and this smells so divine. Manuka honey, almond extract and little pieces of walnut, culminate together to give me the perfect amount of scrubbing. I’m a tough one to please with body scrubs but this does a fab job, not to harsh and leaves my skin lovely and soft. It’s not a daily product for me, as I think you can overdo it but once or twice a week, helps my skin feel smooth and get rid those nasty razor bumps. This gentle gel turns milky and lathers a small amount, as it’s worked into the skin. The perfect first step to silky pins.

Friction Free Shave Cream

I have been a loyal user of Lush Defluff for the last year, so I was intrigued to see how the Friction Free Shave Cream would compare. The bottom line, its good stuff. As this also contains Manuka Honey, it has a similar scent to the Pre-Shave scrub but a little more subtle. The creamy balm clings to the skin and makes my razor glide without any irritation.

Shea Butter and Coconut oil are two really nourishing ingredients and they make this, really gentle and not drying for my sensitive skin. I have used this daily and really loved it. As it turns clear when applied, it’s really easy to see where you are shaving, to avoid any unexpected cuts. I am really impressed by the formula and I think it’s makes the biggest difference, to my shaving experience. Its definitely a product I could see myself adding on to my subscription regularly, as it makes shaving a doodle.

Friction Free Post-Shave Balm

The post shave balm also contains Manuka Honey, so although they all smell slightly different, you can still smell the divine honey scent. Almond Oil and Cocoa Butter do give this balm, a lovely rich texture that clings to the skin.

After getting out of the shower/bath I apply this like a normal moisturiser. As I have extremely dry skin, I don’t find this quite hydrating enough on its own. So if I do use it, I apply a body moisturiser over top, once it has sunk into my skin. If you don’t suffer with very dry skin, you could get away with using this independently, to keep your skin soft. It feels really gentle and soothing and helps reduce irritation. I’m happy to use it before moisturiser as an extra step, as I do think it makes my sink feel really silky.

Final Thoughts

I love that Friction Free Shaving is a brand for women, as we can often be an afterthought when it comes to shaving. I’m really impressed with the quality,  it’s a good value for money and as it arrives to your door, it’s one less thing to worry about. Maybe it’s the pretty personalised rose gold razor, or the honey scent body products but I have genuinely noticed FFS has made shaving more enjoyable for me. My skin looks and feels silky smooth, maybe it won’t be such a chore anymore!
