Making Soap cool again
I instantly feel in love with Nuddy soaps, and it’s safe to say they came into my life at just the right time. Shower gel definitely stole the spotlight in the last decade or so, but soap bars are making a big come back. Nuddy soaps are plastic free and made from super rich shea butter. Let’s lather up!
*These products have been sent to me for testing and review purposes. All opinions are my own.
Soap and Covid-19
Soap, toilet paper and pasta. Is the shopping list of panic buyers in the UK at the moment. I still haven’t the faintest idea why anyone needs 100 rolls of toilet paper but I do understand the important of washing our hands more frequently and thoroughly, then we normally might. The importance of soap is more than just looking cute and smelling great. Soap is an absolute must have, to protect ourselves and others while the world is in crisis.
Soap is and always has been, an essential. Yet in the last few weeks, soap has become not only a sold out item on my many shelves but has really shown the importance of washing properly and for longer than you would expect. I don’t want this blog post to be all about Covid-19. Nor do I want to encourage panic buying, as it just leaves vulnerable people without, and feeds the problem. I think the advice of buying one or two extra things in your shop is sensible. And soap should definitely be on your list in a sensible quantity. Whatever you are using, keep your hands clean. Look after yourself and look out for others.
Okay serious stuff over, let’s talk about these super cute soap bars from Nuddy…
Where my love of soap bars started
My love of soap started a few years ago, I will admit with Lush. I never used soaps before, as I have eczema prone skin I had always found soaps to be aggravating. Then one day a bar of soap from Lush called to me, and I thought ‘okay I will give it a try’. Well that’s when the love affair started. I have used soap bars exclusively for washing my hands at home now for a few years. Its stopped me buying plastic hand soap bottles, and I actually found it less drying on my skin and longer lasting. Bonus it makes my bathroom smell great. I have been buying soap bars ever since from Lush but not tried much else on the market. That’s until Nuddy soaps walked in..
What is Nuddy soaps?
I feel like Nuddy might be a British colloquialism, so if you don’t know it essentially means in the nude!
So what makes these soap bars special? They are triple milled, made in the UK, vegan, plastic and cruelty free, made with super rich shea butter and finally paraben and sls free too. Woah that’s one clean beauty product. Oh and of course very millennial appealing. In fact my little millennial eyes lit up when I saw these. There are 5 scents, all with ridiculously cute names. As they all work the same, it really comes down to what scent grabs you, we have:
- Less bitter then your ex- FACT (Pink Grapefruit)
- Say hello to your main squeeze (Lime and Lemon)
- You know, it takes two to mango (Mango)
- It’s date. You + me are mint to be (Mint)
- I’m totally coco-NUTS for you (Coconut)
They are £4.95 each of £20.95 for a pack of five. Soap last a really long time so this is a fab deal (approx. 6 months to get through this pack)! Whether you are using them just for your hands or for your body too, the value is fantastic. Nuddy soaps also has a really cute tin for £3 which is a good add-on if you are keeping them in the shower.
Scent-sational
I seriously struggled to decide which soap to try first, when I say they smell incredible I am not lying. I went for coconut in the end because it’s one of my favourite scents but I can’t tell you how excited I am to work my way through my stash. The mango one smells like the most delicious ripe mango, the mint… I just want to bite into (but won’t!) and you cannot beat the delightful refreshing scents of grapefruit and lemon and lime. They are all crowd pleaseers for sure.
Aren’t soap bars unhygienic?
No! This is a myth. As long as you rinse your soap bar the same way you do your hands after washing, and allow it to dry your soap bar will stay clean. Dirt, bacteria and viruses are lifted and rinsed away. It’s really a miracle product and an important line of defence. As well as it cleans us, it also cleans itself.
What about very dry skin?
I was sceptical of soap bars because I feel like in the past my skin would get drier. It is still a case-by-case bases. Having tried Nuddy soaps on my body and I didn’t find it drying. I do however use body lotions every day, as it’s important to restore moisture in my skin otherwise I get eczema.
As I have extremely dry skin, I am still using sensitive shower gel most days (it’s a crutch I know!). I have found using soap in my routine to be absolutely fine on alternate days, and I am just going to see how I go long term from there.
For my hands like I mentioned, I exclusively use soap bars at home, as I wash them so much more. I think because they are so rich in Shea butter and because soaps don’t have a lot of synthetic additives in them, they have actually help stopped my skin from getting extremely dry.
As soap contains way less irritants, I am not surprised it’s been such a game changer for me. I just need to fully dive in now and stop buying shower gel too. Nuddy soaps have definitely given me the confidence too!
Soap Fantastic – It ain’t plastic
Some Barbie girl pun lyrics for you there, and if you don’t know that song then I am official too old.
Single use plastic is something we are all trying to avoid and use less of. The UK supposedly uses 7.7 billion plastic bottles per year. A sickening number!
Soap bars are a really fantastic and easy switch to make this happen. It’s one less bottle with every bar you use. From a travelling point of view, soap bars of course not being liquid, means no unexpected spills, and no liquid restrictions. Just make sure you give them a chance to dry so they don’t get soft!

Mission make soap bars cool again… accomplished
I love supporting smaller businesses and Nuddy Soaps are definitely worth your time. I can’t describe how good these smell and how gentle they have been on my skin. Better yet of all they are vegan, cruelty and plastic free. It’s time for shower gel to step aside!

I think Nuddy are doing and amazing job at making soap exciting! thanks for reading xx
Okay, I’m intrigued. Completely honestly – I never use bars of soap because my skin is so dry, I always opt for something oiler and I definitely don’t use bars on my body. You’ve tempted me to try though, I know this method is so much more planet friendly but I find when you have dry and sensitive skin and something works, you cling to it? Please tell me I’m not alone here because I’ve been devoted to the same couple of shower products for a long time now! I’d probably test the waters with just using it for my hands at first, I think. The mint sounds lovely! And I can’t think of a better time to do a soap collab…x
Sophie
I was exactly the same, swore never to try soap bars because I have dry skin. I would definitely test the water with your hands first. It’s an easy swap and my hands are thanking me for it with all this extra hand washing at the moment. I still don’t use them daily on my body because as you said I’m a long time devotee to certain shower gel brands and was fearful at first too but I am happy I’m making the slow swap! As long as you moisturise afterwards it’s no problem xx
I have never heard of this brand before, but the soaps sound really lovely and I love how pretty the packaging is xo
Makeup Muddle
It’s a smaller brand but I really hope to see them grow more and more because these soap bars are brimming with benefits xx

Ooh excellent I can’t wait to read your blog! The mango one smells incredible, good choice! They work great on the body too, I mainly use soap bars on my hands and swap between shower gel and soap in the shower as my skin is naturally very dry. I haven’t had any negative side effects yet though xx

I am glad you had a good experience, soap gets a bad wrap but it’s a great plastic free alternative and usually more natural in ingredients then many shower gels. xx

Isn’t it adorable and the names are super cute too! xx
Adding these to my wish list! I honestly never thought we would come to this, but this whole corona buyers hysteria made me realize two things: most people never washed their hands and most people are obsessed with wiping their behind. It is not only the UK, where I live people are obsessed with hoarding. Many discovered soap, as I have never seen so much interest in it before, which is both funny and sad. Having said that, I love the fact that these have shea butter in them! It is one of the most nourishing ingredients and my dry skin loves it too. Hope you are well, Sam xx

its such a surreal time, everything is just progressing so rapidly there is no time to adjust either. I’m just focusing on day by day and most importantly staying safe without risking others. I know its been an awaking for me too! I do have to wonder what people were doing before, clearly not enough! I hope you are safe and well Naya, that’s the main thing. Nuddy is great and I am so happy to be talking about them as they are actually giving away soap to those who need it right now. Amazing when a brand is not just about profit. I will continue to spread their name as not only is the product great but the founder too. xx
Cool package ♥
Super cute right! xx
Ahhh I adore the packaging of these, what cute soaps! Glad to see that they are plastic-free and shea butter is such a gorgeous ingredient too. To be perfectly honest, the way the world has been lately, a lot more people will reaching out for these little lovely bars!

Aren’t they adorable and they smell amazing too! I am so glad I could introduce you xx
Gosh I love those names – I feel like I would give them a go just because of the super cute packaging! But I also love the sustainability aspect, lack of parabens and SLS . I feel like I’ve made a big circle back to solid soap bars lately too – I will see if I can find these here in Australia. Thanks for sharing!
Soap bars are certainly on the rise and I’m so hear for it. Better for my skin and the environment too, its a win win. They are a smaller brand so I don’t know if they ship internationally yet but I hope you can find something similar if not. Thanks so much for reading xx
I’ve been trying to get back into soaps. For me they remind me of the 90’s and my parents home. And those Dove facial bar soap advert thingys. I love the packaging of these soaps, it is definitely replacing my old school views of soap. Plus it’s more sustainable than shower gel.
