A dog friendly visit
My fiancé and I spent a short 24 hours, in the idyllic seaside town of Brighton. We took our dog Rossi, so finding pet friendly establishments was a top propriety for us. Luckily Brighton is a very welcoming city and although our stay was brief, it was a wonderful trip.
I have always wanted to Visit Brighton. We do live about 4 hours away, so have never managed to make the trip. When my fiancé needed to visit for a meeting the day after his birthday, we concocted a plan to tie everything together and pay a quick visit to the trendy seaside city.
Pets Pyjamas
We booked via Pets Pyjamas. A great site that shows pet friendly hotels and B&Bs all around England. I will definitely be booking with them again, they went above and beyond to find us great accommodation for the night and to make sure our furry friend was well looked after. It’s so great to know exactly where we can take our dog, without having to enquire at loads of different hotels.
The Oriental B&B
We ended up booking a room at The oriental, a five minute walk from a multi story car park and even closer to the beach. The room was great, small but plenty of amenities and very comfortable. Breakfast was included which was a great bonus. Rossi made friends with the hotel dog and enjoyed the comfy bed too. I would definitely book a night here again!
The Beach
Dogs aren’t allowed on the actual pier, but we didn’t have any trouble walking her along the beach front, it’s a pebble beach and there seemed to be plenty of dogs playing in the waves. Rossi wasn’t that bothered by the ocean. Which was a shame, as I was hoping she would be at least curious. It rained heavily when we arrived but the next morning was lovely and sunny so we enjoyed looking at the ocean even if she didn’t!
The Ginger Dog
For Dinner we headed to the gastropub The Ginger Dog in Kemptown. As it was raining we took an Uber instead of walking. Luckily the Uber driver didn’t mind up having Rossi in his car and we arrived in under ten minutes nice and dry. We choose The Ginger Dog as their website mentioned they were pet friendly, so we felt comfortable talking her in. The food was lovely but two cocktails and two mains toted up to quite a bit. Maybe a little pricey but we did have a lovely time and the staff were very friendly. A great atmosphere and overall a really enjoyable evening. I was so glad we didn’t have to leave our pup back at the hotel.
Lucky Beach Café
I had a bit of time to kill alone, so I took Rossi to a dog friendly café on the beach. Lucky Beach Café was such a diamond find. Sheltered but still with a view of the ocean, we found a nice spot outside to enjoy a coffee and an incredible coconut granola bowl. Rossi made quite a few friends with passers-by and I got to slowly sip my coffee while watching the waves. Pure bliss.
Street Art
It’s not hard to find amazing pieces of artwork and sculptures around the city. Brighton really is a canvas of amazing creativity. We didn’t have the time to really hunt anything out, but luckily stumbled across quite a few amazing pieces. If you are looking for amazing backdrops or just a bit of inspiration, Brighton has no shortage of art to inspire!
Shopping
As we had our pup with us, I couldn’t hit the shops as hard as I wanted to, which was a shame as Brighton has everything. Seriously everything. Coming from a smaller city, I felt so spoilt for choice. Of course I wanted to dive into Jo Malone and never come out. But in the end I only went into Loccitane and a chocolate shop called Leonidas, which for a shop-a-holic like me was very reserved. I hope I can go back for a full shopping day in the future. There was so many independent stores, as well as bigger recognisable brands. A shoppers paradise.
Home Time
Before we knew it, it was time to crawl home due to the wonderful traffic of the M25. I wish we could have stayed longer but still I’m so glad we had the time we did. It’s safe to say Brighton is a fab city, with so much to offer. I really hope we can return, there were so many café’s I wanted to sit in and watch the world go by.
Have you been to Brighton?
Looks beautiful. I think I would have loved that cafe place. They’re my favorite!

I’ve always wanted to go to Brighton but I’ve never actually made it. It’s probably about 6 hours from me so it’s definitely a trek. I love that you managed to take Rossi (such a cutie). I’ve never heard of that website before but I’ll definitely check it out, I’d love to be able to bring mine on a few trips with me. Looks like you had a lovely stay even if it was short! x
