Beauty products I’ve used up
Can it really be that time again! I have somehow managed to hold on to a surprising amount of empties, considering I moved house only a month ago. My empties basket has been upgraded to an empties drawer and once I was settled in, it was finally time for another round of beauty products I’ve used up.

An odd assortment of products can only mean one thing… it’s time for Empties Edition 4! If you missed empties edition 3, you can catch up here. I love to share my finished beauty products on my blog as it’s such a great way to talk about all the products that’s may have missed the limelight. The real question is, what would I repurchase?
Makeup
It’s no easy feat to finish a makeup product. I get through mascara faster than anything else, as I replace my tube every three months, but my other products take much more time to make a dent. This time around I have four products to share with you, but only one I would repurchase.
Laura Mercier Foundation Primer (sample size) 14.7ml | £30 – 50ml
I received this sample of the Laura Mercier Foundation primer in a subscription box a while ago. It’s a cooling gel that sinks straight into the skin. The texture is thick but quite light and I found it to leave my skin a little tacky after application. This is a water based primer, so pairs well with water based foundations. I didn’t find it really extended the wear of my makeup or reduce the appearance of pores. It does provide a bit of a dewy finish and I felt like it helped my foundation go on smoother. In general though I wasn’t wowed by it so it’s unlikely I would purchase a full size.
Verdict: Wouldn’t repurchase
Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in Chihuahua (sample size) 5ml | £21 – 12ml
The Too Faced Melted Lipstick in Chihuahua is a really beautiful pinky nude, the perfect my lips but better shade. It’s quite an oily formula and separates really easily in the tube which can be hard to shake up. I love the colour and it does set down to a nice thin matte, which you can hardly feel on the lips.
I’m just really not a fan of the applicator, it’s a fuzzy tip which the product is squeezed through. It’s hard to get a crisp line and just feels a bit unhygienic to me. I had a few of these mini’s from a set and have thrown them all away as they went bad very quickly. I think the colour is a real winner and I like how it looks once applied but the negatives out weight the positives for me on this one so I wouldn’t buy it again.
Verdict: wouldn’t repurchase
Bourjois 123 perfect CC Cream 30ml | £9.99
The Bourjois 123 perfect cc cream offers medium coverage and is a good everyday base. It’s a very affordable product and does even my skintone. I don’t love the finish, it’s a little powdery which doesn’t suit my dry skin very well. I find it can cling to dry skin as well so I think this just isn’t the best product for me. If you have oily skin I imagine this would be a really great daily product, it lasts a good amount on the skin and has spf15.
Verdict: Wouldn’t repurchase
Clarins Supra Volume Mascara (sample size) 3.5ml | £22 – 8ml
The Clarins Supra Volume Mascara doesn’t get talked about enough. It’s such a fantastic all-rounder.
The wand is a traditional straight fibre wand. I find it easy to coat all my lashes including my bottom lashes. I don’t experience any smudging or flaking throughout the day, a real deal breaker for me. There is quite a strong floral scent which I’m not a huge fan of. Other than that, I love it. My lashes looked separated but with fantastic volume and length. They never don’t look clumpy or spidery, it’s a real winner. I could definitely see myself purchasing the full size of this, once I have used up my current mascara.
Verdict: Would repurchase
Haircare
My haircare drawer suddenly became full to the brim and because I that I have been switching up the products I’ve been using more than usual. Although I only have one item to share for this empties, it’s a good one!
Redken Diamond Oil Deep Facets Hair Mask 250ml | £23
It’s with a heavy heart I have to share the Redken Diamond Oil Hair Mask is discontinued. When I was getting low, I checked all my usual online beauty sites to try and find this to repurchase and it was not to be found. So instead I have brought the Redken All Soft Hair Mask as an alternative. I hope it’s as good.
I feel in love with this hair mask almost immediately. It’s a thick cream that really clings to the hair. I would leave this on washed damped hair for about twenty minutes before rinsing off. It can be a bit of work to fully wash out but it’s worth the extra effort. This left my hair feeling incredibly soft and looking shiny and smooth. It can be used on roots as well, as it doesn’t make hair oily or flat. I adored everything about this mask from the scent, texture to the results. I really hope they bring it back or the All Soft makes for a good alternative because it was my favourite hair mask ever.
Verdict: Have repurchase
Bodycare
This edition of empties is very body product heavy! I had such a stock pile of body products that I’ve been trying to whittle my way through. In fact I don’t think I’ve brought any body products this year so far. I have been enjoying using things up and creating some more space for new things.
Rituals Fortune Scrub 150ml | £10
The Rituals Fortune Scrub is my favourite body scrub ever. Not only does it smell incredible like sweet orange and cedar. But it is such an effective scrub, there is nothing worse, than a scrub that just melts away before you even feel any exfoliating. This is very gritty but not harsh on the skin. It’s packed with oils that leaves my skin feeling so soft, hydrated and smooth after using. I have already brought and finished the larger tub of this, so I’m due to repurchase it again. I can’t rave about it enough, it’s so effective and reasonably priced. A must try.
Verdict: Would repurchase
Nuxe Reve De Miel Hand Cream (sample size) 30ml | £7.33 – 75ml
The Nuxe Reve de miel Hand cream has a very similar scent to the Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse dry oil which I adore. I feel like it’s quite hard to find a hand cream I don’t like. This had a lovely light yet hydrating texture, which sunk quickly into the skin and didn’t leave a residue. I found it to be nourishing and enjoyable to use, with the scent lingering for a small time, enough to appreciate the fragrance. It was a lovely product to use and one I could see myself picking up again.
Verdict: Would repurchase
Lush Snow Fairy Body Conditioner 100g | £8.50
I have been using the Lush Snow Fairy Body Conditioner very sparingly since I picked it up during my Boxing Day haul. Snow Fairy is only available at Christmas, which makes it even more special. The delightful scent of candy floss, cherries and bubble gum is so divine and sweet. Lush body conditioners are one of my favourite products from Lush. Apply in the shower and rinse off.
Your skin is left hydrated and moisturised and makes a great alternative to body lotion. I have very dry, eczema prone skin but I don’t find this to make my skin irritated. It’s not as hydrating as the heavy duty moisturisers as I normally use, which is why I tend to use it on and off. Mainly in summer when my skin is less dry anyway. The scent really lingers on the skin, you can smell it all day long. I love how convenient and enjoyable the body conditioners are to use. Snow Fairy is one of my favourite scents from Lush. I will definitely be buying a bigger tub when it’s available again.
Verdict: Would repurchase
Lush The Comforter Shower Cream 100g | £5.95
The Lush The Comforter Shower Cream has since been discontinued, but I thought I would share my thoughts with you in case it ever made a reappearance. I picked this up during the Boxing Day sale last year. I have a bit of a love hate relationship with the shower cream formula. On the one hand it’s very difficult to get out of the bottle. On the other hand it really clings to the skin and feel so luxurious to use. The Comforter scent is blackcurrant and vanilla, I hadn’t tried it before but it reminded me to much of cough syrup to enjoy. This little bottle lasted me a decent amount of time but as it’s not my favourite scent from the line I wouldn’t buy it again if it were to be released.
Verdict: Wouldn’t repurchase
Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Multi-purpose Dry Oil (sample size) 30ml | £18 – 50ml
The Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse dry oil smells like heaven. The scent notes are Orange Blossom, Magnolia and Vanilla. It smells like a spa and really lingers on the skin or hair depending on when you use it. This is a multi-purpose oil that you can use on your face, body and hair. When used on the skin I found it to be nourishing and leave my skin feeling incredibly silky. A few times I also tested it on the ends of my hair and found that it didn’t weigh it down but left my ends soft and smooth. The Huile Prodigieuse definitely has a bit of a cult following and I can see why, the quality is everything I hoped and more and it’s truly a pleasure to use.
Verdict: Would repurchase
Sanctuary Spa Body Wash 250ml | £6
The Sanctuary Spa Body Wash is a product I’ve used many times over the years. I was pleased to see they didn’t change their formula, when they updated to their new gorgeous copper packaging. I have been a long-time fan of the sanctuary spa signature scent, it’s uplifting and refreshing. I always enjoy using their body products, they never disappoint. For a body wash this ticked all the right boxes, it lathers nicely, smells great and most importantly make you feel nice and clean.
Verdict: Would repurchase
The Body Shop Vineyard Peach Body Butter 200ml | £15
I believe there was a Body Shop Body Butter in my last empties, I can believe I’ve managed to get through another tub. The peach scent is one of my absolute favourites, I always stick my nose straight in this tub before applying, it just smells so good. The texture and formula is the same thick mostiusring body butter we all know and love. No matter the scent you pick. I love The Body Shop body butters and normally have a few tubs stashed around the house. I would of course buy the vineyard peach again!
Verdict: Would repurchase
Fragrance
It’s not often I finish a fragrance. My collection is quite small, so I do use the same scents frequently but still I feel like it takes me a couple of years to finish one. Once I saw I was getting low on one, I turned all my attention to it in the hopes of using it up.
Jean Paul Gaultier Classique Eau de Toilette 50ml | £62.50
The Jean Paul Gaultier Classique was gifted to me a few Christmases ago. This is a classic fragrance that has been on the market for over twenty years. If you like perfume, I’m sure you would have seen or smelt the Classique eau de toilette at some point. The scent notes are; rose, orange blossom and vanilla. It’s a gorgeous scent that is both floral and sweet. I found it to last an average amount of time on the skin but it lingers much longer on clothing. The packaging is beautiful and elegant and in-general it’s a fragrance I adored to wear.
Verdict: Would repurchase
I didn’t make much of a dent in my empties drawer so I’m sure I will be sharing some more empties in the next few months. Its always a great feeling to finish a product and make some room for new things. This edition was a bit of a mixed bag of products i would and wouldn’t repurchased but there was definitely some firm favourites this time around.
