6 products I’ve been loving
A few months ago I shared the first instalment of my current makeup favourites, click here to read if you missed it. Which means it’s high time for episode 2! These 6 products have been my most used, for the past few months and certainly deserve a shout-out on my blog.
With the season shifting to Autumn, my makeup choices are still focused on dewy skin but I have also been reaching for deeper and richer tones too. I haven’t been buying a lot of makeup recently but I didn’t struggle at all to pull out several favourites from my stash, as these products have repeatedly featured in my rotation. Season change or not, these products are my top picks at the moment.

Bareminerals Gen Nude Blush in That Peach Tho |£22
I picked up the Bareminerals Gen Nude Blush on a bit of a whim a few months ago. Well, I’m so glad I did, as it quickly became one of my all-time favourite blushes. I have always struggled to find my perfect blush shade, that looks natural but gives some much need colour back into my skin.
That Peach Tho is a stunning natural peach tone, that gives such a perfect flush to the cheeks. It’s warm toned, not to dark, not to light. I find it impossible to over apply. The texture is easy to blend and lasts all day on my cheeks. I love a matte blush and the pigmentation, texture and shade are all a real winner for me. I really want to pick up more shades, as the product itself is so good.
The packaging is so sleek and compact. I love that you can clearly see the shade through the big window. The pan size is 6g, which should last me awhile, as one dip into the pan is enough for each application. There is quite a few products in the Gen Nude line that I need to try but the blushes are certainly worth your attention.
Real Techniques Blend + Blur Foundation Brush |£17.99
I have been a fan of the oval style foundation brushes for a long time. When Real Techniques brought out the Blend + Blur Foundation Brush I just had to pick it up. Real Techniques has been one of my favourite brush brands for a while, as I think the quality is fantastic and the price point is unbeatable. The blend + Blur brushes come in a few sizes but I started with the foundation as I have a similar brush in this style that I love.
This brush is amazing for a quick foundation application. It makes light work of blending out my foundation seamlessly. The large brush head hugs the contours of my face. It doesn’t have much give in the handle, which also create an even steak-free finish.
I find the bristles don’t soak-up to much product, so one pump of foundation is still enough for me. The bristles are super soft, which is such a treat to use and so densely packed that every swipe feels luxurious. If I had one complaint it would be how easily grubby the matte laminate handle gets. Although, it does make the brush look very sleek.
If you are curious about trying oval style brushes, the Real Techniques blend + Blur doesn’t disappoint. This brush feels like its three times the price and gets an awful lot of use from me.
Nars Laguna Bronzer | £30
The Nars Laguna Bronzer may not be a new product but it’s certainly a cult classic and for good reason. This has been in my makeup collection for a while now but even as new bronzers come and go, I love it just the same. A light tap gives instant warmth to the skin. It is quite a warm toned bronzer, which may look muddy on fair skin tones. However, I find this to such a perfect bronze shade for my skin tone.
If you look closely at the pan, you can see some very small shimmer particles. However, I always find this to look matte on the skin. This silky soft powder doesn’t have any kick-up when you dip your brush into it and blends and buffs onto the skin, to give that perfect sun-kissed bronze.
I just adore the finish of this bronzer, it doesn’t sit on top of the skin or ever look patchy. You can build it up as much as you would like and it blends effortlessly across the skin. Whether you are after a natural look, or to sculpt the face. I feel like this can do both depending on how you apply. It was love at first application and a product I have continued to reach for all year round.
Heavy Swatches to show colour (I don’t wear any of these products this heavily on the skin!) from left to right: Nars Laguna Bronzer, Bareminerals Gen Nude Blush in That Peach Tho, Becca Backlight Primer and Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Finish Powder.
Becca Backlight Priming Filter | £28
I received the Becca Backlight Priming Filter within the Cult Beauty goodie bag a few months ago. It is easily the best gift with purchase I’ve ever had… and there was a lot of good stuff in that goodie bag! It’s safe to say that once I took a look at my glowing skin, I became obsessed with this primer.
It’s not sparkly or glittery, as you blend this into your skin the colour disappears. This champagne pearly glow, melts into the skin easily and without any residue. I wouldn’t say this particularly extends the wear of my makeup but it does make my foundation go on more smoothly. The main reason I love this, is the incredible lit from within glow it gives my skin.
If you have dry of dull skin this is a must try. It’s the best glowy primer I’ve ever tried and makes my skin look completely transformed. Supermodel glow in a bottle.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in Medium Brown | £19
After hearing so many rave reviews about the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade I had to try it for myself. I usually favour using an angled brush and powder, to fill in my brows and this isn’t to dissimilar. The main difference being the thick pomade makes it really easy to get a clean, defined brow.
A little goes a long way but if I ever overdo it, I just use a clean spoolie brush to remove any excess product. The texture is like a dry cream, which clings to the brow hairs and lasts all day. Completely budge proof. I still use the Anastasia Beverly Hills brow powder duo from time to time in the same shade but I find the pomade to be a more intense version. It’s so easy to make hair like strokes with this products and I feel like my brows look their best when I use this.
Initially I was intimidated that I could only create very sculpted bold brows but I all you need is a gentle hand and natural brows are just as easy to create. A really amazing product to raise your brow game. I would go as far as to say, this is best brow product I have ever tried.
Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish in medium | £34
Last but certainly not least, I want to give mention to the bloggers favourite, the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish. Everything I try from Charlotte Tilbury I seem to fall in love with and although I haven’t tried a great deal, the Flawless Finish powder was something I just had to try for myself. I can’t explain how incredibly soft this powder is. It does have quite a bit of kick up but as long as you tap your brush into the pan and don’t swirl it, it doesn’t get to messy. You can’t over apply this, it just melts into the skin giving a… yes you guessed it, flawless finish. This powder is certainly well named.
As I have dry skin, powder is not all always my best friend but this never looks powdery on the skin. The veil is so light and gives a gorgeous natural finish to my skin. I have been using the shade medium, which is a perfect match for me. It’s so wonderful to find a powder that sets my makeup but doesn’t make my skin look dry or cakey. A light dusting definitely increases the wear time of my foundation without adding a heavy feeling to my skin.
The price tag is steep but I can already see myself wanting to repurchase this, as it does what I always hoped a power would do. And it goes without saying that the packing is so luxurious, compact and sleek, I want to reach for it even more.
Final Thoughts
I hope you enjoyed reading about my current makeup favourites. I have really enjoyed writing about why I love these products because they can’t get enough good press from me. Shopping my stash to find the best things to share with you, is not only a great way to document why I love them but really helps fight the urge to go out and buy new things. It’s a win win!
