Makeup I’ve been loving.

I have never done a makeup favourites on my blog, but recently I have been shopping my stash more as I’m trying to budget, and I realised I have been reaching for a few products continuously throughout the month. So here are six makeup products, I have been loving for the month of April.

It’s a satisfying feeling to fall in love with a makeup product. I often do focused reviews on my blog, but have been lacking in talking about things that have been in my collection for a while and that I use on regularly.

I tend to change up my products almost daily, so when I notice something sneaking into my rotation time and time again, I like to take note. What it is that I love about that product? What sets it apart from other beauty products I have? So in honour of that, I have picked out six things that I use constantly and rate very highly, to share with you all.

Current Makeup Favourites

Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder in 03 | £28.80

The Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder is glowing skin in a bottle. I always have a great makeup day when I use this. It blends easily and quickly into the skin, offering medium but build-able coverage. This doesn’t cling to dry skin or look patchy or uneven, it’s just perfection in a bottle. It’s very light weight and doesn’t feel heavy on the skin. I adore the glowy finish, it makes me look so radiant. If you have dry skin, this is the base for you! It’s everything I look for in a daily foundation.

Mac Prep + Prime Fix + | £19

Mac’s Prep + Prime Fix + is one of those products that does it all. It’s a staple of mine and one I don’t give enough love too. The mist is a perfect continuous spritz, that doesn’t spit at you. This feels cooling and gentle on the skin. It’s amazing for damping a beauty blender in a pinch, (although you will wiz through a bottle!) setting your makeup, mixing with pigments or foiling eyeshadows. It is the workhorse of my makeup bag and I couldn’t be without it.

I mainly use this to wet my eyeshadow brush, to pack on metallic shades onto my eyelid. This is a total game changer and can amp up any metallic or shimmer shadow, to give it a more pigmented and foil effect. I like to dip my brush into the eyeshadow pan and then spritz my brush. As it avoids the eyeshadow pan getting a coating over it, but I find it still produces the same incredible effect.

My other favourite use for Fix +, is to set my base and meld all the products together to give a more seamless overall look. Fix + makes my skin look glowing and takes away that powdery finish.

Tarte Tartelette Toasted Eyeshadow Palette | £41

The Tarte Tartlette Toasted Palette was a Christmas gift last year, one I haven’t put down since. I posted a full review (including swatches) of this palette back in February. Catch up here if you missed it.

The more I use it, the more I love it. It contains twelve buttery, smooth and richly pigmented warm toned shades. The mattes blend effortlessly and although have a bit of kick up, don’t seem to cause much fallout when blending. The metallic’s glide onto the eyes and give you that intense shine you have been looking for. I think the shade range is so thought-out and balanced and therefore creates so many options for warm rich eyeshadow looks.

The sleek and compact packaging makes it easy to store and travel with and it also houses a sizeable mirror. I think Tarte did an amazing job of releasing a very wearable and beautiful warm toned palette, that would suit the masses. The quality and longevity of these shades makes me eager to try more palettes from the brand.

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Vanilla | £24

I picked up the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer while at the Airport back in February. I didn’t have much time before my flight, but I did have some dollars that still needed spending. So I grabbed the shade Vanilla without have a chance to swatch it and hoped for the best.

Vanilla is a little light for me, but I do think the shade works well as a brightening concealer. I love the texture and coverage of this, it doesn’t feel heavy, but does as amazing job of concealing my under eyes and making me look fresh and awake. It blends effortlessly into the skin and a little goes a long way. It doesn’t crease or make my under eyes look dry or cakey, I can’t fault it.

Current Makeup Favourites

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light | £40

The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder has been on my wish list for years. It’s one of those cult products, that never has a bad word said about it, and I can see why. I finally picked it up at Sephora while in the States (are you seeing a theme!) and have been in love with it ever since.

I can’t describe how amazing this makes my skin look. The extremely fine powder is undetectable on the skin. It gives you the most incredible lit from within, healthy looking glow. I have dry and dehydrated skin and this just make my skin look incredible. It’s not glittery or shimmery and won’t make you look like you have set your face with a highlighter I promise. The shade Dim Light is a stunning soft champagne gold that suits my warm toned complexion perfectly.

The rich bronze packaging is so chic and although I don’t use it, I appreciate the mirror. I adore everything about this powder, Hourglass have nailed every aspect. If you are looking for a product to give you that radiant healthy glow, look no further.

Fresh Sugar Honey Lip Treatment | £19.50

The Fresh Sugar Honey Lip Treatment was another of my Airport purchases. Fresh is available in the UK at John Lewis, but it can be tricky to find in-stores unless you live near one of the department stores with a Beauty Hall (I don’t !). So when I saw this in person I had to give it a try.

Firstly the packaging is stunning, It’s very weighty and the luxurious frosted rose-gold metal tube, makes me feel better about the steeper price tag. I love how the packaging reflects the colour within too.

I wouldn’t say this has a honey scent, it’s quite a difficult to describe the scent but it’s still pleasant. The Fresh lip treatment does have SPF 15 as well, which is an added bonus.

I thought this would be more of a balm, but the texture and colour payoff is really more of a hydrating sheer crème lipstick. It is a very moisturising lip product which is so rare to find and the shade is just beautiful, my perfect nude. The texture is quite soft and glides onto the lips, feeling comfortable with just the right amount of colour. I have been reaching for this daily as it’s the perfect glossy, hydrating lip to wear throughout the day.

You like all the same products I do! Well, I have two of the Tarte palettes but I don’t have Toasted. That one looks gorgeous! I love all the Fresh Sugar Lips. They are just such perfect summer products and Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder? OMG OMG OMG! I have been swearing by that forever. It is an absolute miracle product. I like all the shades they have. Dusted my face with that and a big fluffy brush to finish everything off, is like sprinkling fairy dust on me. TOTALLY MAGICAL!

Finally the end of the week. Have a beautiful weekend!

Looking at these gems, I feel like we pretty much wear the same makeup! 😀 I love Tarte eyeshadows, I recently bought their “In Bloom” palette, was a tough choice because “Toasted” looks so damn good too. I can’t stop using it, it has got every shade you might ever need on a daily basis! Also, big fan of Fresh lip balms, Fix Plus and Hourglass. Speaking of NARS concealers, I feel we must have more or less a similar skin tone, because I also find that Vanilla is a touch light for me, while Custard is a touch dark already. They did add a few more in-between shades to the range now, so I am hoping to find one that does it all! xx

Thank you so much for reading Naya. I agree I think we have very similar tastes and skintone/type which means everything you recommend I know I’m going to love! The In Bloom palette looks absolutely stunning, now I know how fantastic Tarte shadows are I’m very keen to try more. I’m tempted to get the shade custard as I agree I really want something in between and maybe i can mix them for now. I hope they expand the range soon xx

Fix+ and Ambient Lighting powder in Diffused are my everyday staples as well. Concealer and foundations tend to rotate, but those two are my never-withouts. Another ultra favourite is my Mac brow pencil in Fling; I recently got back into it and now I can’t remember why I stopped using it in first place.
Happy Sunday, Sam! Hope the moving is going well 🙂 Xx

I love the Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation . I agree with you it has the most gorgeous finish.
