Vegan skincare by Holland & Barrett

Vitamin C is an ingredient well known for its brightening and anti-aging properties. It’s benefits for the skin are well documented and celebrated. Holland & Barrett have developed the VitaSkin Vitamin C range to be vegan friendly with all products ranging from £15-£18.

*These products have been sent to me for testing and review purposes. All opinions are my own.

Holland & Barrett VitaSkin

I have been incorporating these products into my routine for the past four months. I personally like to use one or two within my daily routine at any one time to give my skin a boost of vitamin C while still balancing my routine with other active ingredients to meet my needs. The VitaSkin range is extensive and there is definitely a product for everyone to allow your skin to benefit from the fantastic properties of Vitamin C.

Vitaskin

Vitaskin is a new brand (Launched May 2020) exclusive to Holland & Barrett. The brand is fully vegan and combines their 150 year knowledge of vitamins along with clean beauty credentials. I was so excited about this launch, Vitamin C is known for brightening, energising and it’s anti-aging properties. As Holland & Barrett is a trusted vitamin’s retailer, I knew they would bring their expertise to the line to deliver something really high quality to the market.

Holland & Barrett VitaSkin

Glycolic,salicylic acid and vitamin C

Three commonly found acidic active skincare ingredients. If you are using either glycolic or salicylic acid, avoiding adding vitamin C to the mix. They alter the PH of vitamin C and reduce its effectiveness if used together. You can alter the days you use these ingredients if you find benefits to all three. Work your way up to this to avoid overloading your skin and introduce new products into your routine one at a time to see how your skin reacts.

My Skin type: Dry/Sensitive

VitaSkin Vitamin C Anti-Pollution Glow Day Cream and Vitamin C Collagen Boosting Night Cream

Vitamin C Anti-Pollution Glow Day Cream & Collagen Boosting Night Cream | £15 each

Vegan | 99% Naturally Derived | Made in the UK

The VitaSkin Vitamin C Anti-Pollution Glow Day Cream and Collagen Boosting Night Cream make perfect companions to your routine. As you would expect, the day cream is lighter in texture and quicker to absorb. While the night cream is thicker, richer and works through the night to boost hydration. I love both creams, they perfectly hydrate my dry skin. Protecting it throughout the day and night. Both creams contain kiwi seed oil and sea buck-thorn oil in addition to the star ingredient vitamin C. My skin feels soft, hydrated and balanced when I use these. I love them both, they haven’t caused any sensitivity in my skin, and keep unwanted dryness away.

Also containing lemon peel water and vitamin E, to brighten dull skin and the appearance of dark spots. It sinks quickly into my skin giving a perfect base for moisturiser and sun screen. Some of the products in this line are more passive in results but if you are looking for glow and lots of it, look no further.

Vitamin C Illuminating Oil | £18

Vegan | 100% Naturally Derived | Made in the UK

I use about 3 drops the Vitamin C Illuminating oil in the morning on days when my skin is feeling extra dry or if I’m planning on wearing a full face of makeup. My dry skin has always loved oils and just drinks them up. This is a medium weight oil; its fast to absorb but I can still feel it on my skin after application. It’s the only product from the line that has a natural gentle fragrance derived from the ingredients. I love using oils under makeup to help achieve a more flawless base, but this would likely cause alarm to oily skin types. A great oil for an added boost of radiance.

VitaSkin Vitamin C Gentle Daily Exfoliator

Vitamin C Gentle Daily Exfoliator | £16

Vegan | 99% Naturally Derived | Made in the UK

For when you want to start with smooth, look no further then the VitaSkin Vitamin C Gentle Daily Exfoliator. 100% biodegradable particles gentle resurface and unclog pores to give brighter, smoother skin. I love a gentle physical scrub to give my skin a boost, and have personally been using this about twice a week. It’s fab for my dry skin and really helps create a even base for makeup. If you struggle with acne scaring, this is a great product to gently buff away unwanted, uneven pigmentation and flaky skin. I haven’t had any irritation from this so it’s gentle enough even for my sensitive skin. A great product to have in your routine.

VitaSkin Vitamin C Lifting Eye Cream and Vitamin C Cleansing Balm

Vitamin C Cleansing Balm | £15

Vegan | 99% Naturally Derived | Made in the UK

My favourite was to use the Vitaskin Vitamin C Cleansing Balm is in the evening as a second cleanse. I am enjoying this so much half the tub is already gone, the metal tub is a great plastic alternative and it’s easy to get out a consistent amount. After warming this between my fingers, I apply this all over my face avoiding the immediate eye area. The texture stays as a balm while you work it into your skin. Which may not suit oily skin as it’s hard to fully remove every trace. When removed, this leaves my skin soft and comfortable. It’s not greasy (for my dry skin) and thanks to the key ingredients grape seed oil and kiwi seed oil my skin feels cleansed and hydrated with the added benefits of vitamin E too. Such a lovely, gentle and affordable cleansing balm!

Vitamin C Lifting Eye Cream | £15

The Vitaskin Vitamin C Lifting Eye Cream helps plump and brighten the delicate skin around my eyes. This has a light cream texture and quickly absorbs. Containing kiwi seed oil, sea buck-thorn oil and olive squalane, three ingredients that can be found in the night cream and illuminating oil. There is consistency within the formulas that I really like. I use this in the mornings and opt for something stronger in the evening. If you are combating under eye darkness or fine lines, I would go for something stronger. But if you just want a light gentle eye cream, this works great.

Holland & Barrett VitaSkin

Glow Together Now

Whatever you go for within the range, I think you will be delighted with your purchase. The quality and price point are both excellent and I have seen gradual improvements in the brightness of my skin over the past four months. Importantly they have been gentle enough for my sensitive skin and are all fragrance free. If you are looking for more immediate and intensive results I would suggest starting with the Vitamin C Collagen Boosting Serum. If you aren’t in a hurry and want to achieve a healthy glow over time, checking out the other products mentioned. Holland & Barrett have recently added even more products to the VitaSkin line, its great to see the line expand.

I had no idea that Holland & Barrett had launched this range, it all sounds great and at a really good price point too. I can’t use vitamin C in skincare unfortunately, it’s an ingredient my skin has major sensitivity issues with but I’ll definitely keep a lookout to see if they expand and do more lines x
