Colourpop and Fourth Ray Haul

Colourpop and Fourth Ray Haul

Trying more from the international beauty brand!

It’s been a long time since my last Colourpop haul, years in fact! Probably because I hate paying international shipping and customs fees. One day (awhile ago now) I saw they had 30% off sitewide, so I bit the bullet! I also wanted to try some skincare products from their sister brand, Fourth Ray. I can’t wait to share what I thought of everything!

Colourpop and Fourth Ray Haul

Colourpop

Colourpop is an affordable brand that releases new launches multiple times a month! I don’t usually like brands releasing products in such quick succession, as it can be really overwhelming and I often question the quality. Some how Colourpop has made this formula work. Their launches are always varied, beautifully packed and they have amazing collaborations with artists, creators and even household names like Disney. However, because they do release collections so quickly, I often miss the boat. As it took 3 weeks for my order to get to me, I tried to pick products that would hopefully still be relevant when they finally arrived. Eventually the signature pink box arrived. So let’s talk about what I got!

Fourth Ray Mellow Milk Coconut Lip Mask and Oat Face Milk

Trying Fourth Ray

I will be honest, I kind of dismissed Fourth Ray initially. I feared their products were style over substance. Their packaging is very pretty and they have done a great job of curating a look that is very ‘insta’. I wanted to challenge my preconceptions by picked a few products from the line to try. They are undoubtedly pretty, but are they actually good formulas?

Fourth Ray Mellow Milk

Fourth Ray Mellow Milk Calming Mist | $12

I’m having a love affair with mists at the moment. So when I saw the Mellow Milk Calming Mist I had to try it. I think this a product that Fourth Ray is discontinuing, so I don’t know if it will still be available when this post goes live. Rose is a scent I’m not usually drawn too but this is a lovely fresh rose scent. Rose can sometimes smell really powdery but luckily my gamble paid off and this has a lovely scent. This spray however spits, it’s not a very fine mist. So the first few sprays can cause you to jerk back in response! I do enjoy this mist, it’s hydrating and cooling and great as part of my skincare routine before hyaluronic acid or just throughout the day to refresh. It does loose points for the spiting mist but otherwise nice.

Fourth Ray Coconut Lip Mask

Fourth Ray Coconut Overnight Lip Mask | $10

I am a coconut fiend. I really wanted to see how the Fourth Ray Coconut Overnight Lip Mask would compare to my Holy Grail Laniege Lip Mask. This is actually my favourite product from my haul. The texture is soft and smooth and my lips really do feel nourished. It has also been great for my sensitive lips that often react to heavy fragrance or colour. I have been keeping this on my desk and using it whenever my lips feel a bit dry. It’s to soon to say whether it’s a full dupe for the Laniege but I like it a lot so far. The coconut scent is a subtle and I believe they have the same formula in a strawberry, rose and watermelon version if coconut isn’t for you.

Fourth Ray Oat Face Milk

Fourth Ray Oat Face Milk | $14

Why did the words face milk appeal so much to me? Clever marketing for sure. I love hydrating and calming products for my dry and sensitive skin and so when I saw the Fourth Ray Oat Face Milk I was to curious. They have quite a few versions, including Matcha, Papaya, Coconut and even Turmeric. It was hard to pick. The Oat Face Milk has a hydrating blend of oat, jojoba, and squalane. It’s nice enough, but not really something I have actually reached for since purchasing.

Colour Pop Makeup Haul

Now on to the makeup!

Colourpop has so many beautiful eyeshadow palettes but I manged to talk myself out of getting any. I love eyeshadow palettes so much but I have more then I could ever use before the expire. So I wanted to get some more practical makeup items to try. A lot of my makeup actually expired during Lockdown 1, 2 & 3 and because I wasn’t wearing much I didn’t replace anything. Meaning I am trying to build up my basic’s again!

Colourpop Lattice Eye Liner Pencil

Colourpop Creme Gel Pencil Liner in Lattice | $6

I was hoping the Colourpop Creme Gel Pencil in lattice would work as an inner corner highlight or to line my waterline to brighten. The colour is beautiful a really soft champagne that I think is really flattering. However it’s more sheer then I imagined it to be so it’s not as brightening as I hoped. It’s hard to notice when I use it vs when I don’t as it is so sheer. I’m still trying to find a way to use that that feels impactful.

Colourpop Feather Effect Styling Wax

Colourpop Feather Effect Styling Wax in Clear | $7

The Colourpop Feather Effect Styling wax is very stiff and dry, when used with a spoolie I feel like it just crumbles. It does a decent job of holding my brows in place but I was hoping for a slightly softer more malleable formula. I think this comes down to personal preference. I love using wax to hold my brows in place and with a bit of work I can achieve the effect I desire with this. They also have tinted waxes if clear isn’t preferred.

Coloiurpop Brow Gel

Colourpop Brow Boss Gel in Dark Brown | $7

The Colourpop Brow Boss Gel is a good colour match for me. It is a very wet formula and a lot of gel gets on the brush, so I like to scrap off as much as I can before using. Otherwise it can look a little heavy and feels wet. I enjoy this brow gel. It has good hold and adds some depth and hair like strokes to my brows. If I was to compare it to the Glossier Boy Brow I would say it’s not as good in general, but it is half the price. For the price I have no real complaints, it has a good sized brush, a good range of colour and doesn’t give you crispy brows.

Colourpop Super Shock Eyeshadow in Twitterpatted

Colourpop Super Shock Shadow in Twitterpatted | $6

The Colourpop Super Shock Shadows is what I believe was their standout product back in the day! So it’s kind of strange that this is my first time trying one. I picked Twitterpatted as it looked like a beautiful rosy gold shade. It’s more sheer then I imaged it to be. It gives a soft wash of gold shimmer with a hit of rosy peach colour to my lids. Without primer this only lasted a few hours before creasing. With primer I was able to extend the wear to about 5 hours. I think this makes a good base for shimmer shadows to be applied over it.

Colourpop Fourth Ray Haul

Cheap and Cheerful

I feel like everything was good but nothing really blew me away. Colourpop is a very affordable brand and I do appreciate how much they have to offer. If you can think it, they will have it. If you want pretty packaging and to feel like you have got a lot for your money, Colourpop will do that for you. It’s cheap, cheerful and there is always something new.

Colourpop and Fourth Ray Haul

My favourite product from my haul was the Coconut Overnight Mask. This is the only products I would consider repurchasing. Still it was really fun to try some new things and nothing really disappointed me so I will continue to use everything. Let me know what products you recommend from Colourpop? I would love to try more!

What an amazing haul! I’ve been wanting to try the lip mask, so it’s good to know that it’s worth it and works. I hope it is a dupe for Laneige one haha xxx

I don’t think anything is as good as the Laneige but I still really enjoy this one! I am kicking myself for not getting the strawberry one as well xx

I’ve not tried any Colourpop as I can’t justify the shipping! I wish they were in the UK😭

    • violethollow October 11, 2021 at 7:36 pm

I know! it’s why I haven’t placed many hauls. I do appreciate that they don’t add customs on top. I only went for it because of the sale so it ate some of the high shipping cost 🙂 xx
