Beauty through the decades

Receiving a Birchbox every month is a treat I always look forward too. Each month my little box arrives filled with 5 products, some full and some sample sizes containing a bit of makeup, skin, body and haircare.

This is my third Birchbox, and I find the quality really consistent. Although I wasn’t as excited about January’s box as I was about December’s, I have yet to use one of the products and be disappointed. I have even found some products I really love and would repurchase. Which is exactly what I hoped when originally subscribing. This subscription is £10 a month and postage is £2.95.

This month’s theme was Beauty Through The Decades and instead of being able to pick a product, you were able to select your box design. As a 90’s kid I of course picked the 90’s box. They also had an 80’s and 70’s inspired print you could choose from.

Luseta Coconut Milk hair mask

When I first opened my box I was a bit miffed to see two out of the five products where hair related, although I like trying haircare it doesn’t excite me as much as makeup or skincare. Having said that, anything coconut related always peaks my interest and although I normally forget to use hair masks I was excited about the Luseta Coconut Milk hair mask. It is targeted toward dry hair and can be used in the shower after shampooing, which is my preferred hair mask method.

Percy & Reed Finishing Polish

The second haircare product in my box was the Percy & Reed Finishing Polish, I have tried a few products from this brand in the past and generally like their products. The finishing polish is a cream that can be smoothed onto dry hair to help tame fizz and fly away’s. This is quite a handy product to have in your bag and is a generous sample size just like the hair mask.

The Beauty Crop eyeshadow trio in Love U So Latte

The rest of the products in my box were all makeup. I believe everyone received The Beauty Crop eyeshadow trio in Love U So Latte this month. The three shades are all really beautiful neutrals and were nicely pigmented and smooth. I have only used this trio once but it impressed me way more then I expected it to. I found the quality to be consistent and easy to work with. The shades are definitely something I would choose for myself and although I don’t reach for smaller palettes often, I can see myself getting use out of this nice little trio.

Model Co Conceal & Correct

The Model Co Conceal & Correct green crayon is a full sized product which is always nice to receive. I don’t get much use out of green concealers as redness isn’t a skin concern I really have. I love the chunky crayon format, I just wish it was a peach shade instead. Models Co is a brand I’m familiar with and it does look like a nice product so I will be giving it a try on one of those days when I’m happy to do a few extra steps with my makeup routine.

Laqa & Co Blush Highlighter

Last but not least we have the Laqa & Co Blush Highlighter, I tapped this cream over top of a matte blush and feel in love with the effect. It really added so much luminosity and radiance to my cheeks and didn’t feel greasy or affect the products below. This is a really beautiful blush topper and adds such a pretty peachy glow to the skin that really transforms blushes. I don’t own anything like this in my collection and I think in the summer months this is going to my go to product.

Overall I think Birchbox have done it again, with 5 great generous sized products that I have loved trying. For the reasonable monthly price you really can’t go wrong with Birchbox. Each month bring completely new offerings and as always the opportunity for add-on products if you are looking to really treat yourself.
