Be Present Not Perfect
I can’t quite believe how fast this year is speeding by. Already I have my March box in front of me. As it has been a particularly stressful month for me, I was so pleased to see the theme of this month’s box was mindfulness and the importance of me-time.
I have been subscribed to Birchbox for four months now, and every month I’m more and more excited to receive my box through the mail. For £10 a month and £2.95 postage, I am amazed at the value and sizes of products we receive and the amount of recognisable brands too!
You can get a special extra treat if you use my code S19G5 to sign up.
I didn’t think they were going to be able to top my favourite box December 2017 but once I saw everyone would be receiving a miniature Benefit Bad Gal Bang! Mascara, I had a feeling it could be beat.
What’s in my box?
- BLAQ Eye Mask
- Benefit Badgal Bang! Volumising Mascara 3.0g
- Rituals The Ritual of Sakura Foaming Showergel (full size) 50ml
- Amika Bombshell Blowout Spray 29.6ml
- Glamglow Supermud Clearing Mask Treatment 15g
BLAQ Hydrogel eye masks
This month we were able to pick between two masks from the brand BLAQ, the Charcoal peel off mask and the BLAQ Hydrogel eye masks. As you can see I choose the eye masks, as much as I love a peel off mask, I was more drawn to the eye masks as they are something a little different for me. I have very dark under eye circles and although these don’t claim to assist that they do say they will help brighten and de-puff my under eyes and I’m game for that! these feel so cooling on the skin and left my under eyes visibly de-puffed and brighter looking.
Benefit Bad Gal Bang! Mascara
Item two as mentioned before, was the Benefit Bad Gal Bang! Mascara. As this is a very new release and I was so excited for this one. I have tried every Benefit mascara to date and had to fight the itch to buy this straight away. I don’t like to have too many mascara’s on the go at once, because they have such a short self-life. But if you get it in a subscription box then it can’t be helped… right?! I have heard this gives tones of volume and since my favourite kind of mascara’s give big bold lashes, I’m sure I’m going to love it. Plus as a bonus I love anything space themed and something about the promotion of this launch just hooked me in.
Rituals of Sakura Foaming Shower Gel
I’m such a lover of Rituals products and have used and loved their Rituals of Sakura Body lotion before so I was so pleased to see a full size can of The Rituals of Sakura Foaming Shower Gel in my box. This has a beautiful delicate Cherry Blossom scent and although shower gel is not something I would normally get too excited about seeing in a subscription box, when it’s a line you love how can you not be. If you haven’t tried Rituals yet I highly recommend them, their products are so luxurious and don’t aggravating my sensitive skin.
Amika Bombshell Blowout Spray
The next item in my box was the Amika Bombshell Blowout Spray. I haven’t tired this brand before but I think the 70’s design is super cute. Birchbox normally has at least one haircare item in the box. As I don’t normally experiment with haircare to often, I always appreciate them introducing me to new and exciting products. To use this product all you have to do, is mist this into damp hair and blow dry for added volume and bounce. As my hair is flat as a pancake, I’m looking forward to trying this. The generous size will give me a really good trial of the product.
Glamglow Supermud
Last but not least was the Glamglow Supermud, I have purchased the full size of this in the past and I must admit I have mixed feelings about it. It’s a very intense clay mask that tingles when applied. It contains coarse bits that can be massaged into the skin to exfoliate as well. As I have sensitive skin, I felt like this was a little harsh for me and caused irritation if I used it too often. I know this is a very popular line and it’s certainly effective but I have to be careful to not upset my skin with it, by using it too often.
As always the beautiful designs of the Birchbox boxes is creative and thought-out. I love to reuse and display as an added bonus. The stunning mandala design is so calming to look at. I say this every time, but I just love the boxes! The little extra this month, was a discount code to their online store. Where you can buy full sizes of any of the brands they include in their box and some exclusives.
This month’s box was amazing and my favourite so far, I’m so excited to try all these products and report back.
What did you get in your Birchbox this month?
I love the product selection here; I am very curious to hear what you think about the mascara too! Amika is one of the brands I keep seeing online, but have yet to try. The spray sounds lovely! xx
