The exciting new release part 2
A few weeks ago I shared with you part 1 of the new Phase Zero Liquid Eyeshadow launch, the Coconut Liquid Eyeshadows. This time I want to talk specifically about the Phase Zero Metal Veil Eyeshadow formula and shade range that launched at the same time. They are both very beautiful but quite different.

If you missed part 1 all about the Phase Zero coconut liquid eyeshadows, you can catch up here.
The metal veil eyeshadows come in seven shades and are highly metallic cream eyeshadows with a doe foot applicator. They come in the same high quality plastic tube packaging that the coconut eyeshadows do. The easiest way to tell the different between the two is the consistency of the product. The Metal Veils are a traditional cream formula that has more play time before drying down. I have been working these into my routine for almost a month now and wanted to share my thoughts and findings all about these products with you.
Who are Phase Zero?
Phase Zero are a very wallet friendly and cruelty free brand. Being available only online allows them to keep their prices low. Although they are a relatively new brand, new and exciting products have been launching every month. The line currently includes; lip products, powder, cream and liquid eyeshadows in abundance. Phase Zero has also teased bronzers and blushes too. They focus heavily on customer feedback to create fun and exciting products that you want.
The metal veil eyeshadows are £4.75 each or £21.99 for the bundle of all seven shades.
Metal Veil Eyeshadows
There are currently seven shades in the range, they are all metallic and are packed with fine shimmer that give them their gorgeous shine.
- Merlot – Deep Wine
- Regal – Pink Cranberry
- Decadance – Rich Chocolate Brown
- White Rabbit – Bright White
- Simmer – Burnt Terracotta
- Foxy – Burnt Orange
- Fancy – Cool Champange
Formula
The metal Veil eyeshadows are a thick cream texture that have some play time before drying down. You have about 30 seconds before these start to dry, which makes them easy to blend out. As they don’t dry instantly they are more user friendly then the Coconut version and can be applied straight from the doe foot or taking the product off the applicator with a brush.
Unlike the Coconut eyeshadows these don’t give a foiled effect on the eyes, instead the result is a metallic shimmer and very true to colour in the tube. The texture is much more of a traditional creamy liquid eyeshadow. I find these work best over top a thin (not powder) eyeshadow primer such as the Urban Decay Primer Potion. If applied over the top of a powder, I find these to crease very quickly and be much harder to blend. They can be used without any kind of base but this doesn’t give them the longest possible wear time.
For a more pigmented look I find it easy to build these up and apply different shades over the top of each other. As long as you keep your layers light this doesn’t make them more prone to creasing.
Pigmentation
The pigmentation is consistent across all seven colours which is fantastic to see. I find the colours to provide good colour payoff and offer impressive metallic pigmentation. The shimmer is not chunky, iridescent or holographic. It’s a fine shimmer running throughout and the colour appears on the eye identically to how it looks in the tube. The way you apply these can produce different results, for a more sheer wash, I use a synthetic brush or my finger to pat the shades onto my lids. For more intensity, I like to apply the doe foot directly to my eye.
Shade Range
Overall the shade range is largely neutral and there is a good mix of cool, neutral and warm shades. I would love to see the line expand to incorporate some more lighter shades, as I find these easiest to use as lid colours. As many of the shades are slightly deeper intone, it can be tricky to incorporate these into my general day looks. However, I think they make for really beautiful and eye-catching smoky eye looks.
Simmer and Decadence are my favourite for one-and-done looks. Swept over the lid and blended into the crease they really hold their own and can be built-up or sheered out based on your preference.
White Rabbit is a bit too shimmery and white for a brown bone shade but I think it works great on the inner corner or to add a pop of highlight on the centre of the lid.
Fancy, although a beautiful peachy champagne shade, isn’t great for my complexion on its own as its quite cool toned. If I use a warm crease shade however, I can pull it off as a really gorgeous light reflecting lid shade.
Foxy is such a beautiful burnt orange but I find it needs something deeper used with it to create a contrast to really set it off. I adore warm tones and an orange like this is such a versatile shade.
Merlot has been my go-to outer V shade from this collection, especially when paired with Regal. Decadence also makes for a perfect outer V shade and pairs well with the shades Merlot doesn’t.
Swatches from left to right: White Rabbit, Fancy, Simmer, Foxy, Decadence, Regal & Merlot.
How I like to use them
The best tool I have found to work with the Metal Veil formula is my Real Techniques Shading brush. The short densely packed synthetic bristles makes easy work of blending these out. Keeping the colour from straying to far. I also think fingers are really well suited to this product and the quickest way to create a pigmented eye look. The doe foot applicator of course works too but I find it easier to dot the product onto the eye with the doe foot and use either a brush or my fingers to blend them out.
I rarely use these on their own as I find a matte shade in the crease really helps to complete the look. After applying a thin layer of eye primer, I use a matte powder shadow for my transition shade and crease shade. Then I tend to use these on the lid, on the outer v, inner corner or all three. Depending on the look I’m going for, effects how many shades I like to use.
They make great bases on the lid as well if you wanted to apply a similar powder shadow on top. For a more intense look for instance, I used Fancy and pressed Marzipan from the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette over top for a really intense metallic effect. It’s easy to be creative with this formula and the shades invite a lot of options.
Wear Time
The Metal Veil Eyeshadows last about 5/6 hours before fading without any primer on my hooded lids. This can be massively increased if you use a thin layer of eye primer underneath and set them with a similar metallic shadow over top. Sandwiching them in-between two layers I find they last the full day. The Coconut Liquid eyeshadows definitely had a better wear time on my lids but this is a very different formula. It really depends on the effect you are after as to which is best for you.

Out of the current collection, Simmer, Foxy and Decadence would be my top picks. The pigmentation and formula is consistently high across the board. So it really comes down to colour preference on which are the best in the range. Phase Zero has brought out so many incredible metallic’s in their line. I’m always so impressed with the quality for the unbeatable price point. I have really enjoyed incorporating these into my looks and had so much fun testing these out in a variety of ways.

I’m a real fan of these, the coconut liquid eyeshadows, slightly pip the post for me but I love how user friendly these are. Thanks for reading Naya xx
Ok these eyeshadow colors are beautiful!!! I absolutely love how they look and they’re so vibrant. My only concern with liquid eyeshadows is that they usually crease pretty bad for me. Will have to give them a go!

Cream and liquid eyeshadow crease one me a lot too. I find with these a thin layer helps and if I set it with a similar eyeshadow it increases the wear time as well. thanks for reading xx
