Get ready to glow

With Summer fast approaching, it’s time to ditch matte and return to the glow! Healthy, dewy skin is always my goal but with warmer weather on the horizon, there is nothing I love more than to really let my skin sparkle in the sunlight. Iconic London are known for their glow getting products, so I was smitten to see how they fared for me.

Introducing Iconic London

I love supporting brands that started here in the UK, there is so much out there, that it can be easy to be swayed by international brands, when there is some really amazing products right on my doorstep. Iconic London have been on my radar for a long time. They are very instagram-able and since that is one of the main forms of media I consume heavily, it’s no surprise that I was so familiar with their cult products.

Iconic London is known for being a hit with the Kardashians too, as well as many celebrity makeup artists. I am so glad I have had the opportunity to try some of their products for myself and see if they live up to the hype, they get online. All of their products are cruelty free and many are vegan too.

Feelunique

Feelunique very kindly sent me these products to review. As they are my favourite online beauty retailer, it was a real dream come true when they reached out. Iconic London Prep Set Glow Spray| £20.50

You may recognise the Prep Set Glow spray, I remember being mesmerised by in on Instagram for a long time before I got my hands on it. I could watch the pearly, pigment swirl around all day. This gives a really soft sheen to my skin, which just makes me look more awake. As I have dry skin, I always want to achieve the look of healthy, glowing skin. There are two shades, Original the pearly pink, which I have and Glow, which is a deeper bronze.

Shimmer

You can see tiny shimmer particles on your face when you use this. I don’t find it makes me look like a glitter ball but they are noticeable, if you are looking hard enough. If you are using this a prep/primer spray, it becomes less detectable, when foundation is applied over top. However, if you want to achieve more of a glowy look, I would advise using it as a setting spray. I have mostly used this to set my makeup, as opposed to a prep spray, as I enjoy the added glow.

Spray

You can end up with shimmer blobs on your face, if you hold this to close. So I try to keep it a little further away from my face, then I normally would. It’s not the finest mist I have ever used but it doesn’t spit either.

Glowing

I love the scent of the Prep Set Glow, green tea, cucumber and chamomile make it really refreshing. This shimmer pigment really does brighten my skin, so I feel like it’s more than just a gimmick. It’s beautiful for a added glow, especially if you struggle with dullness.  I don’t think this product will be for everyone. As I said before, the shimmer is visible but if you want to glow, Iconic London is a great place to start.

Iconic London Illuminator Drops | £30.00

The Illuminator Drops gives me the cheekbones of my glowing dreams. Liquid highlighters have become my new obsession. Ever since trying the Topshop Glow Liquid Highlighter in Blaze (click here to read my review), I have become hooked on the added illumination that a liquid highlighter can bring.

Shades

Iconic London illuminator drops in Original, is every bit as stunning as I hoped. It doesn’t look frosty or heavy on the skin. You can build it up but it only looks more beautiful. The shimmer is so fine, it really does just look like luminous skin but not out of a bottle.

There are four shades available, Original is a perfect match for me but there is also; Shine (pink pearl), Glow (terracotta bronze) and Blush (peachy rose gold). I think the shade selection is good, I would may like to see a medium gold adding for more tanned/olive skin.   

Wear

I find one drop on each cheekbone is enough, I tap it into my skin with my ring finger, or you can use a damp beauty sponge to blend this in. As it’s so light, it can be applied over or under powder. Despite it being a liquid it doesn’t unsettle or cling to powder like you might expect. The drops melt into the skin leaving behind the most beautiful sheen. This is definitely a new favourite.

Most importantly, the Illuminator drops wear longer than any other highlighter in my collection. By the end of the day my cheekbones are still glowing and that is a feat in itself.

Iconic London Luminous Powder | £30.00

The Luminous Powder compact is huge, I mean huge. I adore the art deco pattern, it’s unlike anything I own. You can use a small brush and pick out the specific three shades, or you can mix them all together to create a forth. With four options in one palette and containing a whopping 16g of product I think it’s a steal for the price.

Shades

The bronze shade is too deep for me to use separately as a highlighter, so I have been sticking to the gold and lighter champagne shade. All is not lost though, as I have been using it as an eyeshadow and it works a treat. The luminous powder really is a very versatile palette. I haven’t tested it on my decolletage yet but I can imagine it would look amazing for some evening glow in the Summer months.

Brush

I like to use a Sigma E40 for highlighter. It’s always been my preference to use a smaller brush for more control and the E40 fits perfectly in the difference shades. Iconic does advertise this palette for the body as well and specifically for use with their pro buff brush. Which is a larger kabuki style body brush. With a large brush you can only really mixes these shades, resulting in the golden shade from my swatches (below). If you do however want to be more selective, give a fluffy crease brush a try, it’s always worked a treat for me.

Pigmentation

Although it’s not a blinding highlight, I still love the glowy sheen it gives my skin. I think the finish is beautiful and really wearable and doesn’t add texture to my skin. This is a soft buttery feeling powder and it’s really easy to build up pigmentation. I love that I don’t have to scrub my brush in the pan. I can see myself reaching for this, more and more as the sun makes an appearance.

Iconic London Lip Plumping Gloss| £19.00

When I saw the shade Nearly Nude it was a instant yes please from me. Soft taupe nudes are what I wear all day, everyday so the colour couldn’t be more perfect for me. There are 6 shades total within the lip plumping collection so if Nearly Nude isn’t for you fear not.

For some reason my camera cannot handle the colour of this lipgloss and it always looks more orange then it actually is. As the rest of the shades are showing up true to colour, I didn’t want edit them to be off. So in a nut shell, this lipgloss is actually a beautiful pinky taupe nude (think Velvet Teddy by Mac) and not the dark orange Gloss it appears to be!

Tingle

The lip plumping gloss does have quite a strong tingling sensation, more then most I have tried. I would say it last a good five minutes. If you like plumping glosses you know what to expect. If you don’t enjoy the sensation then maybe give this one a miss. I do like the appearance of this gloss, it smooths out my lips and give them a good amount of shine and colour.

Final Thoughts

I can safely say Iconic does more the just photograph well. I am really impressed with the quality and luminous glow these products provide. The name fits! If I was to reccomend one thing, I would say you can’t go wrong with the Liquid Illuminator. I really think it’s a cut above the rest and a product that will convert anyone to team glow. Although they are know for their glowy products and rose gold brushes, I was excited to see they also have lashes, eyeshadows and brow products too. Sometimes it takes trying a brand to really be converted and I think Iconic was definitely one of those for me.
