Neutral Mattes & Theory II Minx
Viseart is a brand that needs no introduction. A firm favourite of makeup artists around the world, their eyeshadows are revered among the beauty community. I was beyond excited to try them for myself.

Seriously wonderful things come out of Paris and Viseart is definitely one of them. Known for their paraben, silicone, gluten and petrochemical (not sure what that one is, but sounds like something I don’t want on my face) formulas, they take centre stage and offer a world of makeup lovers inspirational palettes to create with.
Viseart on Feelunique
Viseart recently launched on my favourite beauty site Feelunique. I absolutely squealed with excitement when these amazing palettes arrived at my door. As an eyeshadow fanatic, I of course had my eye on Viseart and have heard amazing reviews on their palettes. I’m so excited to be able to share my thoughts with you, as I have been putting these palettes to the test for the last month.
Palettes for artists and art lovers alike
Neutrals are always a great place to start but if you are looking for more adventurous and colourful palettes, Viseart has an amazing selection of 12 pan matte palettes and 9 pan shimmer palettes to choose from. They also have the travel friendly essentials covered in their 6 pan theory palettes, which contains 3 mattes and 3 shimmers. If you want to go bigger they have their grand pro palettes for the serious aficionados.
As they are traditionally a makeup artist’s brand, you can see the thought behind how their palettes are curated. Slim and functional with a focus on must have shades. The eyeshadows are often complimentary and focus on certain tones to create a harmonious palette. Amazing for building a MUA kit and ensuring you have all your bases covered. Don’t be put off if you aren’t a makeup artist (like me!) as they are still an incredible option for beauty lovers. The Neutral matte palette definitely has mass appeal, and can support palettes that are lacking in basic, must have shades.
Viseart 01 Neutral Mattes Palette | £69.00
The Neutral Mattes eyeshadow palette has been on my radar for a while. It’s well known and loved amongst the beauty community. I know I can share in that experience, as I haven’t put it down since I got it.
Shade Range
We all know I’m a neutrals girl. I will forever be drawn to shades like these. Not that I don’t like to play with colour from time to time but neutrals have my heart. I reach for soft browns and warm toned caramels every day, it’s a staple and a go-to for me. The Neutral Matte palette hits it so right.
I was such a fan of the Kat Von D Shade and Light palette, when it first released but stopped using the brand (we all know why) and have been on the hunt for an alternative ever since. A good matte neutral palette really is the core of my eyeshadow collection. I do love the Toofaced Natural Matte and Urban Decay Naked Petite Heat as well but I find the Viseart just nailed the perfect range of cool, neutral and warm shades in this palette that seems to work with everything.
Pigmentation
These aren’t the most pigmented mattes I have ever used but don’t let that put you off because they blend like an absolute dream. Honestly, this is a case where the swatches don’t do this palette justice and I find it so easy to build colour and blend these effortlessly.
I have used every shade in this palette multiple times and I honestly can’t pick out a bad or weak shade. The black in this palette is the easiest black I have ever used. It blends so quickly and I find it so easy to build to the intensity I want. The two top left caramel shades apply exactly how they look in the pan. I use them as transition colours, and all it takes is a quick few swipes to get the intensity I’m after.
Texture
The mattes in the palette are dusty shadows and do have some fall-out (Nothing server but I do notice it more with the deeper shades) I used to really despise dusty shadows but I have mastered the light hand needed. I have been doing my eyes first in my routine, for the past few months and I think I’m finally converted to doing my makeup this way. It means any potential fallout is no longer an issue as I do my concealer after.
Wear Time
I always use an eyeshadow primer, recently I have been using Mac Paint Pot in Soft Ochre. I find with this as a base, these mattes last around 7 hours before fading. (The shimmers in the Minx palette last longer) This has only been tested in Summer, so it’s already at a disadvantage. I feel like with cooler weather I may be able to increase my wear time.
The Bottom Line
I can’t quite put my finger on what is so magical about this palette but trust me it’s there. At first appearance it looks like a good run of the mill neutrals palette. However, there is something about the shade range, layout, amazing blend-ability and general performance of these shadows that makes me want to just put this on a shelf of its own surrounded by bodyguards. It’s a steep price tag, but with each shadow working out to be £5.75 (less than a Mac single) I think the value isn’t bad at all. All housed in a sturdy and thick plastic palette with a clear lid, to view your lovely shadows though. Oh and you can pop them out easily, if you wanted to travel with a few shades or mix and match! Simply put, I adore this palette and would give it two massive thumbs up.
Viseart Theory II Minx Palette | £36.00
Now on to the ever so dinky Theory II Minx palette. Would you believe me if I said I wanted this one too? Well it’s true, in addition to the Neutral Mattes,, I really did have the Minx palette high on my wish list. It really was like Christmas morning opening up this packaging. But let’s tall about this mini palette. Three mattes and three complimentary shimmers are housed in this cardboard, easel style packaging.
Shade Range
The Minx palette offers two light, two medium and two deep shades. I love how the matte shades perfectly compliment the shimmers. It makes it so easy to create a monochromatic look with ease. The lightest shimmer shade has been my go to lid shadow for every day. It’s so light reflective and a beautiful pearly champagne. The burnt orange and mauve shimmers are of course beautiful too and pair so well with shadows from the Neutral Matte Palette and their corresponding shades.
Pigmentation & Performance
The mattes in this palette perform the same as the larger palette, so there is no different in quality despite the smaller size. A great way to try out Viseart shadows if you aren’t ready to bite the bullet for one of their larger palettes, as this will certainly give you a taste for the formula.
I find the shimmers have slightly better wear time. This could be because I use Mac Fix + to wet my brush to give them a more foiled effect. I do this with all shimmer eyeshadows as it really does intensify the pigmentation but if you wanted a softer look they can of course be applied dry too.
The shades in the palette swatch better but I would actually say the pigmentation once applied to my eyes is very similar. Easy to build and blend with little effort.
Mini Magic
I love this little palette. It couldn’t be more compact yet it packs a serious punch. I find it so easy to create looks with it, due to the layout and matching colour scheme. A no fuss, easy palette with beautiful results. I have said less about this palette just because other than the three shimmers it’s very similar to the performance of the neutrals matte palette. So if you already have a Viseart matte palette, you won’t be disappointed with Theory palettes.
Swatches
Apologies for the quick, messy swatches. For the first time I completely forgot to swatch these shadows a head of time, so I grabbed the palettes in haste to show you the shades before this blog post went live. As I mentioned they apply much better then they swatch.
Love at first Swipe
I have been using these palettes together and independently and honestly I’m so impressed by Viseart. It’s trusted among makeup artists for a reason and I can really understand why. Its rare to say a product works and looks exactly how you expect and hope it to. This for me really is one of those occasions. I will be keeping both palettes in my permanent rotation as the have just become my go-to everyday eyeshadow looks.
The Neutral matte palette hits it completely right and would work with so many skintones and undertones, as the shades are the perfect mix of warm, cool, neutral, light, medium and deep. It’s really a full spectrum. The Theory palette is a great add-on or somewhere to start when trying Viseart. Dinky but not to be underestimated, I can create my signature looks with this palette despite its smaller size. In short it’s a glowing review from me.
Have you tried Viseart?

Both look so nice! I’ve only heard amazing reviews so far, however, in my personal experience something in the powder made my eyes itch quite a bit. I do have uber sensitive eyes though; thankfully many people still enjoy their palettes. Great review, Sam xx

I love the colour stories! Viseart does an amazing job of creating beautiful wearable palettes. Thanks so much for reading Jenny xx
I’ve never actually heard of Viseart before so this was a great introduction Sam! I really like that the shades compliment each other as I’m not great at knowing what shadows to pair together. It’s also reassuring that they blend really nicely as pigmentation does tend to be one of the things I look for primarily!
