Affordable skincare, that works
Back in October I was sent a box of Good Molecules products to try. A brand that was saturating my Instagram feed and for good reason. Their products are not only picture pretty but affordable and highly rated too. I couldn’t wait to give them a try.
*These products have been sent to me for testing and review purposes. All opinions are my own.
Check out my latest post about 4 new Good Molecules Launches!
After a month of testing Good Molecules, I have some thoughts to share with you on these products. The products I received are suited to my dry and sensitive skin. So without further ado let’s take a look at Good Molecules, who have been taking social media by storm.
Good Molecules – Skincare that works
Good Molecules is all about skincare that works at fair prices. A great philosophy. I have definitely noticed more of a surge in affordable skincare. That goes beyond the basics since the mass popularity of the brand The Ordinary. I’m glad to see this shift in the market as it’s bringing better skincare to the table for everyone. As with most things on Instagram, I noticed the adorable packaging first. But When Beautylish reached out to send me some products to try, I was excited to see how this budget friendly brand really preformed.
These products are available from Beautylish and can be shipped to the UK.
Ultra-Hydrating Facial Oil | $10
These dinky bottles make me feel like a scientist. Packaging aside the Ultra-Hydrating Facial Oil is what it says on the tin. This is a very rich oil, it does linger on the skin. So if you don’t like that feeling, the Squalane Oil may suit you better as it’s much lighter and quicker to absorb. If however you are looking for something that is going to really hydrate and nourish severely parched skin, look no further.
Antioxidant rich camellia oil and sea buckthorn oil repair and protect your skins barrier. I like to use this at night, (as it’s far to rich to use with makeup) and on days when I feel like I need that extra hit of hydration. A few drops go a long way so don’t be discouraged by this dinky sized bottle. This is a really nice oil for dry skin or those prone to winter dehydration.
Squalane Oil | $8
Squalane may sound like a made up word, but this 100% plant derived ingredient is a super star ingredient for dry skin suffers. The Squalane Oil instantly become a top favourite of mine. This ultra light-weight texture sinks straight into my skin leaving no reside behind. I have often been reaching for this over the Ultra-Hydrating oil, as my skin just drinks it up and the texture is so light it really ticks all the boxes. I have been using this at night but it’s light enough you could use it as part of your morning routine as well. My skin doesn’t get congested when I use it either so I really don’t have a bad thing to say. A great light oil to give my skin some much needed hydration.
Instant Cleansing Balm | $15
When I see the words Cleansing Balm my eyes light up. The Good Molecules Instant Cleansing Balm is very gentle and perfect for my sensitive skin. The texture reminds me so much of coconut oil. As it warms up, the balm turns into a silky oil.
This can be used day or night. I prefer something lighter in the morning, so I have been using this primarily in the evening. In my experience it does work as a makeup remover, and I give it extra points for not burning my eyes or giving me blurry vision. Although I feel I have other makeup removers that excel a little more, so I have been using this primarily as a second cleanse.

The Instant cleansing balm does come with a tiny spoon, which honestly I find more fiddly then helpful. Using the back of my finger to scoop out some product is just easier for me. If the tray insert and tiny spoon were to be removed, it would be no loss to me, and less plastic overall. That really is the only negative I have for this product, and it’s more of a personal preference.
Nourishing sea buckthorn oil, camellia oil and shea butter give this cleanser a luxurious feel and it doesn’t make my skin feel stripped. I love this for my dry/sensitive skin, it performs so well and although it’s scented, doesn’t cause irritation. A product I dived straight into and it didn’t disappoint.
Hyaluronic Acid Serum | $6
The Hyaluronic Acid Serum is one of those products that isn’t a star ingredient on its own, but used at the right point in your routine and with the right supporting moisturiser, it can really oomph up the moisture content of your skin. I’m very familiar with hyaluronic acid, I have used it as part of my evening routine for years. It’s an ingredient that over time really does the trick to replenish my skin, and keep it feeling hydrated for longer.
The Good Molecules Hyaluronic Acid Serum is light, quick to absorb and has been working a treat for me. You can apply this after cleansing or toning as a serum. If you have dehydrated skin it’s a must try especially in the winter months. I find it take a while to see results and this is hyaluronic acids on the whole. I have found this version to be on par with others I have tried but the price tag of this is so amazing, why pay more?
More like Great Molecules…
…I will see myself out.
The range is on the smaller side but I’m really impressed with their current offering. Good Molecules are proof that you don’t need to over pay to still have excellent quality. I will always be an advocate for a higher price tag if earned, but if a product is enjoyable to use, high performing and affordable, why pay more? I wouldn’t recommend something just because it’s cheap, it needs to still meet all my criteria and these products really have. There isn’t a dud with what I have tried and I look forward to continuing to use them all.
My top favourite is the Squalane oil, it’s really light, nourishing and doesn’t make my skill feel greasy. A great pick for all skin types. I would really recommend Good Molecules, it’s most comparable to The Ordinary and meets the same high quality in my eyes.

It is really unique and super cute! xx
I don’t know which rock I’ve been living under but I’ve never heard of this brand and I need to try every single one of these products ASAP. I think we have very similar skin so I’m fairly confident I’d like these too, My skin gets so dry that I actually love the feeling when oils leave some residue so the hydrating oil sounds perfect to me x
Sophie
You won’t be disappointed Sophie! The quality really impressed me. I love rich oils too. I’m like a magpie for anything hydrating. Let me know if you do pick anything up xx
Excellent review, Sam! We have been literally sent the same products and for the most part, I must say we have also had the same experience 😀 I do find Squalane to work great during the day time, but with my super dry skin it is not hydrating enough when I use it overnight (so Ultra-Hydrating Oil has been my go-to between the two). Both oils are great nevertheless. I am so glad that we got a chance to virtually try these out together, always nice to hear your thoughts <3
Yay I’m so glad you had a similar experience. I have been swapping between the two oils with great success, I agree if you need the hydration the Ultra hydrating oil is definitely the way to go. Its been so great getting to try these products at the same time as you Naya. Can’t wait to read your final thoughts xx
Love how more products that are actually good are accessible! Thanks for the review!
