Dermalogica Skincare Reviews

Reviews and updates of products in my collection

Dermalogica is one of my most trusted and loved brands that I always recommend. Dermalogica products are staples for my skin, no matter the time of year. I have two new reviews to share and three updates to products that are currently in my routine.

*These products have been sent to me for testing and review purposes. All opinions are my own. **Some of the links below are affiliate links, meaning, at no additional cost to you, I will earn commission if you click through and make a purchase.

Dermalogica Skincare

I often use up Dermalogica products so quickly (because I love them so much!), I forget to review them on my blog before finishing. So in an effort to share what I am currently using from Dermalogica, I picked out some products from my skincare shelf. Some of these are products I have shared before on my blog, so I will be sharing some updates and some new reviews too!

Dermalogica Hydro Masque Exfoliant

Dermalogica Hydro Masque Exfoliant | £55

The Dermalogica Hydro Masque Exfoliant (Look Fantastic) instantly peaked my interest. A cream mask with bursting spheres. That once worked into the skin, gently exfoliate when applied and removed. The Hydro Masque Exfoliant is as you would expect from the name; both hydrating and exfoliating. Thanks to the key ingredients bamboo (physical exfoliation) and snow mushroom (hydration). Unlike most Dermalogica products this does have a fragrance of fresh cucumber.

Recommended as a 3-5 minute mask, I’ve been reaching for this as a quick skin boost on busy days. I use 1-2 pumps per application after cleansing. As you work this into the skin, you can feel the soft spheres burst to release a gentle exfoliant. It’s a light cream texture that leaves my skin looking fresh, and glowy without feeling stripped of moisture.

However, it does cause some temporary redness in my skin that lasts a few minutes after removing. As a result if you have super sensitive skin like I do, I would try a sample first. I personally would recommend this as best for normal/combination skin types. It hydrates and softens, without heavy oils or balmy textures. The gentle exfoliating spheres add a unique and fun experience to masking, while providing an added benefit. If you are familiar with the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant (Walmart) this mask is similar in terms of the gentle physical exfoliation it provides. Quick, refreshing and little mid week boost.

Dermalogica Neck Fit Contour Serum

Dermalogica Neck Fit Contour Serum | £75

The Dermalogica Neck Fit Contour Serum (Ulta) is the first neck specific skincare product I’ve ever tried. Despite knowing the mantra “Your skincare shouldn’t stop at your chin” I am certainly guilty of forgetting about my neck and décolletage entirely. You may think ageing is the only reason to incorporate your neck into your routine. However, no matter your age, your neck is an area that deserves your attention in your routine. Your neck is more vulnerable to UV damage and the thin, delicate skin is more prone to sagging then the rest of your face.

This firming serum has a built in roller applicator. Twist it on and gently squeeze out the thick serum. Then working in upwards strokes, apply from décolletage to your jawline. The combination of the metal roller and serum has a cooling effect. This offers instant tightening of the skin and over time (12 weeks) a more sculpted appearance.

This is a very pricey product and so won’t be something I would recommend for everyone. If you are looking to start incorporating your neck into your routine, start with a facial roller and a serum or oil using upward strokes. If however your neck is a problem area for you and you can afford it, I do really enjoy this serum and over time have noticed a lift.

Let’s talk about the rediscoveries and updates:

Dermalogica Biolumin-C Eye Serum

Dermalogica Biolumin-C Eye Serum | £63

I have to talk about the Dermalogica Biolumin-C Eye serum (Look Fantastic) on my blog again. This is my second tube, I was sent the first in PR and even though it’s so pricey I repurchased, so you know it’s good. I’m convinced I have panda genes as my under eyes are permanently dark. Especially, when I get little sleep. Which as a new mum, I can assure you, I haven’t had a restful night in quite some time.

So why do I like this so much? It is the only product I have found that really makes a big difference to the darkness and puffiness my under eyes. I have do need to give a shout out to the Antipodes Kiwi Seed Gold Luminous Eye Cream (Look Fantastic) which I use after this and together they are my dream combo.

A little goes a long way, I find a tube lasts me about 6 months and I personally only use this in the evening and still benefit from the results. I honestly never thought I would find something that worked to improve my under darkness so this really is a holy grail product for me.

Dermalogica Redness Relief Essence

Dermalogica Redness Relief Essence | £39

The Dermalogica Redness Relief Essence (Look Fantastic) is a product I stopped using and then restarted while I was pregnant. Redness is not a prevalent issue for me but when I do notice my skin being more sensitive, I like to whip this out. This is quite a unique product and I will admit I don’t love the feel of it but it does deliver results.

After cleansing, I shake the bottle to mix it up and drop about 2-3 drops onto the palm of my hand. You need to pat this into the skin, not rub. So I like to use my whole hand to pat this in, it’s quicker and easier then just using fingers. If you apply to much, this can make your skin feel sticky and pill up. Resulting in a learning curve with this product. Get it right and it does help reduce redness resulting from sensitivity. When I do suffer with redness it’s largely around my nose and mouth. I find with continuous use, I do see an improvement in a few weeks. Using this both morning and night. If you suffer from Rosacea I would recommend this, the UltraCalming range from Dermalogica is my absolute favourite for sensitive skin. This can certainly help calm aggravated skin but it takes a bit of practice and patience.

Dermalogica Nightly Lip Treatment

Dermalogica Nightly Lip Treatment | £45

I’m still loving the Dermalogica Nightly Lip Treatment. It’s so unlike a lip balm and yet provides soft supple lips by morning. In fact it’s unfair to compare it to a lip balm. This reduces the appearance of fine lines and restores volume. I have very sensitive lips and skin around my mouth and so have to be very cautious about what I apply. I’m happy to report I have no issues with this. The light cream formula quickly absorbs and makes my lips instantly softer. I loved it in my first review and I still love it now!

The cooling sculpted metal tip has a lot to do with my love for this. It gets top points for being so enjoyable to apply. This does contain dimethicone, which gives my lips that smoothed filled-in feeling. I am aware this is an ingredient that is controversial in the skincare world. For a lip product, personally I think it works well. Paring with shea butter for hydration and comfort and sesame seed extract to restore volume. The Nightly Lip treatment can be a fab addition to your bedtime routine if you are looking for anti aging benefits that a lip balm alone doesn’t deliver.

Dermalogica products – old and new!

I had a lot of fun looking through my current stash and reviewing some old and new Dermalogica products. Dermalogica is a brand I hold in very high esteem. Their products are premium but they deliver quality results that my sensitive and dry skin really respond too. I trust their formulas and can vouch for real results. I’m already feeling inspired to write about my Dermalogica holy grails. I can assure you the Biolumin-C Eye Serum would be on the list! I hope you enjoyed this post. I haven’t tried much from Dermalogica for some reason. I’m not sure why, but I need that lip product in my life. I get dry lips allll the time and they’re never as smooth as I’d like them to be even when they’re in a healthier state and that product sounds like a miracle worker x
