Best Selling products
Winky Lux is known for their super cute packaging and most notably their Flower Lip Balm. I am back with another review of the quirky brand, trying out some of their best sellers. I was surprised at how much more than just lipstick’s they had to offer.

In July 2018 I did a post introducing Winky Lux. I’m so pleased to be doing an update on the brand, and reviewing more of their cute and fun products.

Flower Balm in Purple | £13
I am sure many people will recognise the Winky Lux Flower Balm, it’s in my opinion their most iconic product. A tiny chrysanthemum flower suspended inside a clear pH changing lip balm. A truly beautiful to look at product.
The Winky Lux flower balm gives that ‘I ate a Popsicle’ stained look, with a bit of comfortable balm as well. I find the colour changing more subtle then the Glimmer pH Balm. I actually prefer this one, as it can be quite a strong shade of pink on me, and I like a softer bit of colour. As it is a pH product, the colour will look different on everyone. As far as I can tell it’s just the flower that is a different colour and not the stain. The only drawback is the flower does make it structurally weaker, and I have noticed cracks around the base of my lip balm as a result.
A really pretty and cute lip product, comfortable on the lips and a unique shade of pink for everyone.
Cashmere Kitten Eyeshadow Palette | £20
The Cashmere Kitten Palette totally surprised me. This was my first time trying eyeshadows from Winky Lux. Although I was a fan of the colour selection, I must say I wasn’t sure if it was going to be a palette I could see myself reaching for. The shadows totally surprised me, they blend so easily and are much more pigmented then I expected. Most of the shades perform wonderfully, and I have really been enjoying the looks I create with this palette. However, there is one main draw back with this palette and that is – the mattes are dusty and the shimmers are crumbly. As a result there is a lot of fall out. I usually do my eyes first, to work around this but it is notable.
Go to Look
My go to look has been Breading in the crease, Instafamous on the lid and Frisky on the outer corner. It’s such a quick and glow-y bronze look. Holographic Biscuits looks like a matte cream but it’s actually an iridescent pink-pearl. That surprisingly works really well with all of these shades as an inner corner shadow. Caturday is a stunning slate grey, that pairs really well with Meow Down. Meow Down does get lighter, and more silver in tone on the eye, then it looks in the palette. I still enjoy this shade, although I have a tendency to stick more to the bottom row.
Packaging wise it’s a coated cardboard, without a mirror. I personally don’t mind this, as it makes it easier to recycle. I did notice Meow Down has a grease mark around it, I can only presume this is something to do with the formula but I haven’t noticed any issues as a result.
I’m impressed with this palette. It’s very wearable, easy to work with and has mass appeal. An excellent cool toned mid-range palette.
Glimmer pH Balm in Unicorn | £14
The Glimmer pH Balm is a product I tested in my Winky Lux lip review previously. Just like the Flower Balm this changes to a unique shade of pink on your lips and leaves a stain. As I mentioned earlier, I find the Glimmer balm to be a darker shade of pink on me then the Flower Balm. I would have expected them to be the same. The Glimmer balm does have some very slight shimmer but it doesn’t feel gritty on the lips. I find the shade of pink it turns on me to be unflattering, so I personally prefer the Flower Balm over this. Still, it is a comfortable lip product and a fun one too. I love the pill style packaging, that all Winky Lux lip products have.
Mini Lip Pill Kit | £13
The Mini Lip Pill Kit comes with 5 mini pill lipsticks in the shades Pippy, Heart, Royal, City and Meoww. These are tiny, and I do mean tiny so it’s really more of a way to try the formula and sample the colour range. Then a lipstick you can throw in your bag and use repeatedly.
I am conflicted with this one, as I really love the formula of the Lip Velour’s and have raved about the shade Heart (Red) in my last Winky Lux post. It’s a beautiful creamy matte red, that glides on and gives full colour off the bat. The rest of the shades; Pippy, Royal, City and Meoww preform just as well, so you wont be disappointed with the formula. After my many declutters last year, Heart remained in my collection. It really is a testament to how much I love that lipstick.
The part I’m conflicted with, is the 5 mini lipsticks. Personally I would rather have a full size of one of the shades, instead of 5 minis which I’m prone to loosing. It really does boil down to personal preference, if you like the idea of a sample set then it’s great Winky Lux have one on offer. Either way, I would recommend the Lip Velour formula whether you go big or small.
So Extra Mascara | £15
The So Extra Mascara gives great volume and good length. I love that this has a straight wand, that isn’t the size of a tree trying to take my eye out. It makes it really easy to do my top and bottom lashes without risk of a eye removal. You can get a separated lash look if you use the length of the brush or if you use the tip can achieve a clumpier lash look.
I do love the look that this mascara gives my eyes. However, as I have hooded eyes I tend to me more prone to smudging, and I do find this smudges on me after a few hours of wear. It’s not extreme but more notable on my lower lash line. I do find mascara that don’t smudge on others, seem to smudge more on me, so its likely I’m the anomaly here. I have still been using it even though it smudges, as it isn’t extreme but it’s not one I would repurchase as a result.
Dream Gelee Moisturising Face Gel | £24
The Dream Gelee Moisturising face gel has such beautiful packaging, it’s a weighty plastic jar with a stunning floral motif on the lid. From purely a decorative point of view, I just love looking at this pretty jar. It’s very vanity worthy. I didn’t realise Winky Lux had any skincare products, so I was intrigued to see how it would compare to their makeup offering.
The Dream Gelee is vegan and paraben, sulphate and phthalate free which is great to see. It’s also infused with aloe vera and caffeine. There is a subtle fragrance to this, which I do think is added. I do enjoy the light and cool gel texture, which sinks quickly into my skin. I have enjoyed trying this moisturiser out and I do think it does the job well. It’s not a Holy Grail product for me, but one I can see myself enjoying and using up.
Whipped Cream Face Primer | £17
This little pot may look like soft server ice cream but it is in fact the Whipped Cream Face Primer. I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this, as I do have dry skin and sometimes pore filling primers make my skin look drier. Nevertheless, I have been pleasantly surprised. The soft and silicone texture really glides over my skin, and doesn’t pill-up. I use this exclusively on my t-zone where my pores are more noticeable and I have been loving the doll-skin effect.
I haven’t experienced any issues with breakouts or dryness over time either. A tiny bit goes a long way so I just use the tip of my finger to pick up a bit of product and tap it in. It lasts as long as my foundation does so I wouldn’t say it necessarily increases the longevity of makeup. More so gives a great base to work with and improves texture where applied. I really love this primer and I would never have expected too!
Uni-Brow Universal Eyebrow Pencil | £14
The Uni-Brow Pencil has a tear drop shape and is a good match for my dark brown hair. It claims to be universal but I can only really confirm that it’s a good match for me. I do find it quick to fill in my brows, with pencils this wide. As a counterpoint, I find it harder to get fine hair-like strokes. I feel my brows look bigger than usual when I use this, but it could just be a learning curve, as I’m used to really tiny nibs.
The formula itself I can’t fault, it’s slightly waxy so I don’t feel the need to apply a brow gel with it. I find I don’t have to press to hard and it lasts all day. The gold packaging is very nice and it comes with a good sized spoolie brush on the end. All-in-all a good brow product.
Final Thoughts on The best of Winky Lux
It’s been so fun to try products that feature in the The best of Winky Lux, and I have certainly found some new favourites. The products are a great price point for the quality and the packaging is really stunning. All-in-all it’s a line worth checking out. My favourites for their best sellers are the Cashmere Kitten eyeshdow palette and the Whipped Cream Face Primer.
Winky Lux is sold at Sephora and Macy’s in the USA or Boots and Debenhams if you are in the UK.

Their lipstick packaging is just too cute! I actually prefer minis because I struggle with finishing full-sized ones, so for me this would be a great way to try out different shades. I especially like how Meow looks, it’s so pretty!
♥︎ Geeky Posh
Do you know what is devastating, Rossi got a hold of one of the mini lipsticks shortly after these photos and chewed it to pieces! I do agree it’s great for variety and if you struggle to get through full sizes, Thanks so much for reading Jenny xx

So pretty right! I really do love their lip products, especially the Lip Velours but the balms are pretty too xx
Sounds like a great brand with pretty good pricing too. I’m so curious about the concept of a universal brow pencil. Mine are quite fair so I’m really tempted to try it and see if I have the same results x
