Moisturising with Polaar

Polaar Skincare Moisturiser

Three hydration heroes

Dehydrated skin is getting the boot, with my new line-up of Polaar moisturisers to tackle dry skin concerns. I have been testing these hydrating hero’s for a few weeks now and here are my thoughts on this Arctic inspired beauty brand.

Polaar Skincare Moisturiser

Arctic Beauty Secrets

Every product in the Polaar line is more than just Arctic themed. Their products are packed with natural ingredients sourced from not just the Arctic Circle but beyond too.

I love brands that are responsible and ethical in the sourcing of their ingredients, and carefully consider everything that goes into their products. I was so delighted to learn that Polaar cares about preserving the landscape where their ingredients come from. Through preservation, research and responsible practices. We can enjoy the wonders of the Arctic and know we aren’t hurting our natural resources.

Polaar is also cruelty free.

Polaar Packaging

Fragranced

All three of the moisturisers in this review are fragranced. I haven’t had any issues with sensitivity as a result (which can occur for me) but I do think it’s worth mentioning. If you have ever experienced sensitivity as a result of fragrance, I would do a patch test first. Especially, if you have any broken or already aggravated skin. These are dermatologically tested and I think for most people the fragrances aren’t going to be an issue.

My skin Type: Sensitive/Dry

Polaar Night Cream

Polar Night Cream  | £42

Cruelty Free & Vegan | Alcohol, Paraben and mineral oil-free

Polar Night Cream is here to target stressed skin by the morning. Needless to say, I was very excited to give this a try. The rich bouncy texture, is thick yet uniquely spongy. I have been using this nightly for about three weeks now on my face and neck. That’s right, after years of neglect I have welcomed my neck into my skincare routine.

My skin drinks this up and feels hydrated and comfortable come the morning. This is a beautiful and luxurious night cream. I absolutely love the packaging too, the scandi style really suits this northern themed brand.

The Magical Ingredient

Rhodimenia Borealia… never heard of it? Neither had I. It sounds like a magical ingredient harvested from the northern lights. Well not far off, it’s an algae that can only be found in the depths of the polar oceans. This mysterious stuff speeds up cell regeneration and is rich in essential nutrients.

Polaar Creams Textures

Scent

Back to Polar Night, and it’s divine scent. It’s clean, slightly floral but really relaxing. I was unable to find any fragrances notes but if you can imagine what a cool night in the North Pole on a summer evening smells like, I don’t think you would be far off.

Bouncy Skin by Morning

I think this is best suited to dehydrated/normal and combo skin type. If you find your skin feels dry and tight in the morning, adding a richly hydrating night cream, will do wonders. There is a lot to love about the texture, it’s not greasy at all. The boreal algae wonder ingredient does all the work during the night. Without clogging my pores and making my face feel sticky. A really lovely night cream and it smells incredible.

Night after Night, toxins are eliminated.

Polaar Ice Sorce

Ice Source Moisturising Gel | £32

Cruelty Free & Vegan | Alcohol, Paraben and mineral oil-free | Natural

The Ice source range from Polaar contains three products made with real iceberg water. The cooling and soothing treat that is the Ice Source Moisturising Gel, gives a wave of fresh hydration. Ideally suited to combination and oily skin, I wondered how this would work for me.

I do really enjoy gel textures and this is no exception, it quickly absorbs and doesn’t leave any residue on my skin. There is a mattifying effect but it hasn’t caused any issues with my skin. I have been using this in the morning as it’s warming up here in the U.K. The fresh and slightly cooling sensation has been delightful. Although, I am not the target audience for the Ice Source range, I have found it still done a great job of keeping my skin hydrated and comfortable.

Iceberg Water

Encapsulated iceberg water, hyaluronic acid and Thalassiossira Antartica (seaweed), make up the three key ingredients that make this moisturiser so special. Even oily and combination skin still needs hydration. The weightless feeling of this gel, soothes and restores hydration to the skin. After applying I always notice how bouncy my skin feels and that is something I usually associate with the effects of hyaluronic acid.

The iceberg water is harvested in a sustainable way by only using pieces that naturally separated from the berg. The benefits being, pure un-polluted hydration.

Scent

The Ice Source moisturising gel has the strongest fragrance out of the three. It’s a fresh, clean almost aftershave inspired scent that reminds me of a ‘clean laundry’ candle. I do prefer the other two fragrances over this one but it’s not a deal breaker for me and I think a lot of people would enjoy the freshness of it.

Combat Shine and Hydrate

A great pick for warmer months to combat shine and ensure your skin isn’t overproducing oils from a lack of hydration. If you do have dry skin, as I do it still has been providing me with plenty of hydration and I haven’t experienced any added dryness. The matifying properties are noticeable but not extreme. I use heavier hydrating products at night, which is why I think I have been able to get this to work so well for me. I find it really soothing on my skin and a perfect base for makeup as it’s so quick to absorb.

Polaar The Genuine Lapland Cream

The Genuine Lapland Cream for Face and Sensitive Areas | £30

Cruelty Free & Vegan | Alcohol, Paraben and mineral oil-free | Natural

The Genuine Lapland Cream is for all your extra moisture needs. Any areas prone to extreme dryness can be revived with this super thick luxurious cream. This little tin can work wonders to soothe irritated areas. Whether it’s extreme dryness caused by the environment or excessive washing, cocoon your sore skin in the comfort of the Genuine Lapland Cream.

Berries a plenty

This little tin is packed with three Arctic berries: blackberry, cranberry and raspberry. All grown in Finland. These three berries contain antioxidants to protect us from the effects of the cold, wind and sun. All which can dry out our skin throughout the day, as well as excessive nose blowing (thanks hayfever!). Shea butter, macadamia and sweet almond oil also aid in hydration and provide long lasting nourishment.

Polaar Moisturisers

Scent

You would think this would have a berry scent, well it’s mild but I would describe it as more lightly floral. Which I believe is coming from the Arctic Rhodiola flower that can only be found in Siberia (chilly). I’m not always a floral fan but this is really soft, fresh and sweet. It really smells like a winter flower blossoming in the cold. Divine, and not too powerful.

Moisture restored

I adore this for some added comfort and moisture needed throughout the day, especially around my nose and mouth. This rich balm melts straight into the skin to provide instant non-greasy hydration. I like to apply this as part of my hand cream/lip balm ritual. It works in the same way, a little top-up to repair and protect dry skin throughout the day. Instantly my skin feels soothed and soft. You can apply this as and when needed!

The Genuine Lapland Cream has become a staple for me, that sits on my desk. Ready to be reached for at any moment.

Polaar Skincare Moisturiser

Polaar – Born of Nature

I love how every Polaar product has something unique about it, that builds a story and purpose for every skin concern. They have found a way to bring amazing natural ingredients from the Arctic Circle to their products while respecting the planet through partnerships in conservation and research.

Polaar makes much more then moisturisers and I am excited to explore more of the line and their beautiful collections to find additional exciting and incredible products. I adore how they have built a theme around each unique ingredient all wrapped up in beautiful Scandinavian style packaging.

I have been impressed with that I have tried and can see the results of impressive skincare know-how and the quality that I associate with French pharmacy.

I love the sound of this brand. I’d never heard of them before but their ingredients sound great. I love the sound of the gel, especially as it starts to warm up a little. It is a shame about the fragrance though, I think I’d need to be very careful with that x

Isn’t it so lovely! I’m glad I could introduce you Sophie. I agree, I’m always cautious around fragranced skincare as I have has issues in the past. They do appear in Birchbox as mini’s from time to time so that may be a good way to trial them xx

I will keep my eyes open, hopefully someone will carry it soon.
