Wild Natural Deodorant Refill

Making the swap to natural deodorant

Let’s face it, deodorant is not a very exciting topic. It’s a product we all use daily, but have you really shopped around and tried to find the best deodorant for you? Wild Natural Deodorant really grabbed my attention, like no other deodorant had before. I just had to try it as I continued my quest of finding the best natural deodorant.

Wild Natural Deodorant Refill

During lockdown, and since I was limited to the people I was interacting with, it felt like a good time to open up the natural deodorant door again. I have had some on-and-off success in the past and found a few favourites and a few fails. Eventually I crawled back to ‘regular’ deodorant.

Try as I might, I couldn’t find something as affordable, effective and assured in protection. From my experimenting and trials, I have to say natural deodorant is a mixed bag, it’s almost always more expensive and although health wise the positives out way the negatives, it’s just not going to appeal to everyone. Because, and I hate to say it, it doesn’t keep you fresh as daisy all-day-everyday in every weather and situation. And that is why it’s not mainstream right?

Still I was undeterred, could Wild Natural Deodorant be the one to turn the tide and convince me once and for all that natural deodorant is the way to go?…

What I Mean By Natural

Chemical and natural are such overused and misdirected terms in the beauty world. ‘Chemical’ isn’t inherently bad and ‘natural’ applies to everything natural found on earth, good and bad. Mercury is natural for instance but I wouldn’t recommend putting it on your face. For ease in this post when I refer to ‘natural’ deodorant. I mean it in the clean beauty sense, where the ingredients are not harmful to the skin, organic or ethically sourced, untreated and retain their pure form without lab intervention.

The Natural Deodorant Detox

I first talked about the natural deodorant detox on my blog in my Evolve Organic Beauty post click here to read more if you missed it.

The Evolve Cotton Fresh Natural deodorant cream sparked my interest in getting back into natural deodorant and after trying it, I wanted to see if I could find something that worked even better for me.

I digress, the natural deodorant detox is a period of time, where you have made the switch from a deodorant containing aluminium (for instance) to a natural deodorant. This involves a detox of your pores while you adjust to not using ingredients that block them. Which means for a period of time, you can smell worse than if you forgot deodorant for the day. It can easily deter a lot of people and make you lose faith in the switch you have made.

Why do you need to Detox?

Traditional deodorants block your pore, this means less sweat and less smell. Natural deodorants prevent odour causing bacteria and overtime decrease the amount you sweat.

The switch can take a few weeks as your body adjusts to the cleaner formula. It took about 2 and half weeks for me before I felt like I was staying fresh throughout the day.

Of course I picked to do this during Summer which wasn’t the smartest idea. lf I felt like I was stinky, I just reapplied or changed between showers. It was worth getting though and now I’m on the other side I have had a much better experience with natural deodorant then previously. Thank you lockdown for making this easier, as it really was the best time to give it a go.

If you want to try natural deodorant but you don’t want to wait, there are home remedies you can do to speed up the detox process, including witch hazel or a clay mask applied directly to your pits.

Wild Refill Natural Deodorant | From £12*

I’ve been using Wild Natural Deodorant for about 4 weeks now and I have found the switch really easy. I like that its a twist-up roll on, a lot of other natural deodorants come in a little pot. Which can be messy and time consuming. I choose three scents from the line; Orange Zest (what I’m currently using), Coconut Dream and Bergamot Rituals. They all smell delightful, although I am unsure yet if the scents have any difference in effectiveness and formula.

Cost Breakdown

So why Wild Natural Deodorant? Well I hadn’t seen a refill natural deodorant before and I was just to intrigued. You pick the colour case you want (I went for coral), then you can pick from one to five refill cartridges with your first order. I went for 3 which cost me £25 in total. Now I have the case, I can either buy more refills when I run out for £18 for three or start a rolling subscription for £15 for three. As I mentioned it earlier, it is more expensive then your average deodorant. But I love the minimal and sustainable packaging and the fact that it is natural. Compared to other natural deodorants on the market, I think the price point is comparable, and the subscription (free shipping) makes it easy too.

Wild Thing

So what do I think of Wild? So far I like it, I would give it a B+ on keeping me fresh and dry during summer, occasionally I have felt the need to reapply. But I not causing anyone to run out of the room. I think my rating will go up the longer I use it and when its not so hot outside causing more sweating. Wild Natural Deodorant is free from parabens, aluminium and sulphates and the fragrances are from essential oils. Its great for those with Asthma such as myself as traditional deodorants can cause breathing difficulties.

I think everyone is going to have a different reaction to this and it’s going to work differently for everyone depending on your lifestyle. If you are wanting to make the switch, there is a lot to love about Wild Natural Deodorant.

Make The Change

Don’t give up, the longer you use it, the better it will work for you. As I said earlier, health wise and from an environmental standpoint, the good does outweigh the bad but it’s an adjustment. You may like I did, have to change your routine, reapply and (made easier by social distancing) keep a distance until you’re feeling fresh all day.

I still have two more refill cartridges of Wild Natural Deodorant to use. After which I will decide if I’m going to subscribe or buy more then. So far I like the refill system and they are working well from me in most capacities. Unless I become an athlete (unlikely) it’s more effective day-to-day then other natural deodorants I tried. Despite the higher price tag, it’s been a good investment for me.

Oh that looks like a good natural deodorant. It’s something I would give it a try.
I’m using the same aluminium free deodorant since years because I don’t trust the other ones I can find in others shops.
ButI can never find it aboard so all the times my parents come to visit me they bring me my deodorants haha. 🙂

Such a cool post, Violet! Switching one main product like deodorant can be such a great way to help our planet. This deodorant sounds so promising. However I have had a baaad reaction to natural deodorants. Breaking out, etc. So I’m a little scared. I wonder if this comes in a trial size? The recycled packaging is so lovely too.

I agree it’s a great swap to make and as there is no plastic involved at all, I really love this swap. Oh no! I wouldn’t want you to have any bad reaction, you can buy one cartridge but that’s still quite an investment if it might not work for you. Thanks for reading xx

Yes you are so right. Chemical and natural are words that are super over-used in the beauty industry among others. And yes most natural deodorants don’t really work. I will have to try this out. Thanks for the introduction and love the photos!
